PURPOSE OF POSITION

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To troubleshoot systems and perform preventive and predictive maintenance on various equipment, while always keeping safety as a priority. Will also provide support for production and carry out the assignments and responsibilities given to them by the casting department maintenance supervisors and team leaders.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY

Responsible for supporting safety, quality, and productivity while adhering to KAMTEK’s plant standards and upholding the Magna Employee’s Charter. Also, maintain, troubleshoot, and provide continuous improvement suggestions resulting in minimal downtime of manufacturing equipment in the casting area.  Support installation and modification of equipment to ensure quality control requirements are met and process enhancements are realized.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. 
2.    Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
3.    Follow and comply with all plant safety standards including LOTO
4.    Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing processes
5.    Effective communication with team members and other departments
6.    Maintain integrity of safety devices including light curtains, safety gates, barriers, e-stops, guarding & fencing, etc.
7.    Assist in determining spare parts requirements
8.    Maintain accurate documentation
9.    Provide support for machine improvements
10.    Ensure equipment meets NEC, OSHA, RIA, and Magna regulations
11.    Perform PM inspections as required, complete with all repairs
12.    Disassemble defective equipment as well as replaces defective parts, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.
13.    May specialize in repairing specific manufacturing equipment, and equipment that is not specific to the manufacturing process. 
14.    Use computerized or manual maintenance information systems to document the details of equipment related issues, repairs made, preventative and predictive maintenance measures taken, etc.
15.    Minimize downtime by effective use of resources including response time, technical expertise, tools, spare parts and external contacts 
16.    Promote, monitor and maintain good housekeeping (5S)
17.    Perform other duties as required.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND KNOWLEDGE/WORK EXPERIENCE

SKILL (Ability to do the job)
-
-Must have good mathematical and communication skills
-Ability to read and understand schematics
-Ability to use testing and troubleshooting equipment
-Must have a good understanding of rigging, cranes, etc.
-Must have a general knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
-Must be able to pay good attention to detail
-Must have a basic knowledge of drafting (blueprint reading, dimension drawings, etc.)
-Must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet customer requirements
-Must have basic knowledge or Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
-Must have general knowledge on electrical theory and troubleshooting
-Must have general mechanical knowledge

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Some of the physical demands for the position include being able to lift a weight of 40 pounds; frequent bending, stooping and stretching; being able to stand for prolonged periods of time; and ability to walk for prolonged periods of time.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED: 

Some of the equipment and tools used are a multi-meter, basic hand tools, punch tools, Oscilloscope, laptop/PC, AMP probe, Mega ohm meter, MIG & Stick Welder

KNOWLEDGE

EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED required

TECHNICAL TRAINING:  General knowledge of industrial maintenance with an emphasis on electrical, mechanical, robotics, or controls application

OTHER:  Journeyman Certification preferred 

WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT TYPES?  Manufacturing experience preferred in a leadership role
