This position has a salary of $35,568.00 and offers a flexible schedule and a wonderfully supportive team!

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide Education and Training Voucher Applications to each youth interested, as required.
  2. Assist youths to establish educational goals, determine living arrangements, and determine financial need that will empower youths to make informed and healthier decisions regarding their education and future.
  3. Monitor and assess each youth's educational, housing, employment, and mental health needs each semester with inputs from the youth.
  4. Provides community outreach support by making face-to-face contacts, telephone calls and presentations to assist identified youth.
  5. Assess, identify, and coordinate use of resources such as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) workers, direct services workers, educational resources, and state and private organization officials.
  6. Work collaboratively with referral sources, agencies, educational institutions, and individuals who have important roles in the client's life situation.
  7. Collaborate and work with high school guidance counselors to help educate and inform youth in various schools across Michigan in the ETV program and its eligibility requirements.
  8. Update student profile on computer database biannually.

Job Qualifications
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or other related field.

Experience
  • Minimum one year experience in child welfare program preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to deal with problems involving a variety situations and circumstances.
  • Ability to speak, read and write fluent English. Ability to prepare business letters, summaries, client notes, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar and diction.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical applications; maintains accurate financial records of educational expenditures for each youth.
  • Ability to utilize assessment, problem identification.
  • Ability to deal constructively and appropriately with client apathy, hostility, resistance and anger.
  • Ability and willingness to display compassion and sensitivity.
  • Ability to work in team relationships with other professionals from varied community groups, agencies and disciplines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to employ social brokering, advocating and mobilizing individuals and staff.
  • Ability to operate with minimal direct supervision in carrying out assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of advanced counseling and parenting techniques with individuals and groups. Basic knowledge of and ability to utilize computer software applications (word processor).

Additional Work Requirements
  • Unrestricted valid driver's license with good driving record. Reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting persons served; proof of current automobile insurance.
