Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University’s mission of Training Champions for Christ. It is expected that an adjunct member models a personal commitment to the goals and values of Liberty University, engage in an active commitment to, and experience of, personal spiritual formation within a biblically informed Christian worldview. Adjuncts should view their teaching, engagement with students, and scholarship as a means to a significant educational end. They should strive to employ a variety of techniques for the development of good learning conditions, view each student as a unique individual, and insofar as it is possible, provide for individual differences, abilities, and interests.
JOB SUMMARY
Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion while facilitating an assigned online class of approximately 25 students
.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain predetermined deadlines for start/end dates, roster verification, grading, and pasting of final grades (10%)
Engage weekly within the class and participate on applicable discussion boards and student prayer requests (10%)
Grade assignments and offer substantive feedback each week (60%)
Respond to student inquiries in a timely fashion (15 %)
Provide weekly communication to the class that helps to address upcoming content (5%)
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in specific area of study, or related field
- Teaching experience in online education (with residential educational experiences as a plus)
- Understanding of technologies associated with online education
- Interest in curricular planning
- Passion for faculty mentoring
- Academic and research experience (conducting and disseminating) in related field
- Commitment to the mission and purpose of Liberty University
Preferred Qualifications:
- History of outstanding teaching and student mentorship
- Track record of publishing
- Interest in emerging educational technologies
- Administrative experience in online higher education with assessment, course outcomes, and/or accreditation
