Job Title: Framer I
Classification: Hourly/Overtime Eligible - Full Time
Reports To: Framing Foreman
OBJECTIVE: Entry level position with basic framing knowledge/ skill set, with the ability to grow in the framing construction environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- General/Basic building construction knowledge/skills
- Maintain clean project sites and work areas as needed
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and shop drawings.
- Accurately measuring, cutting, and shaping lumber, wood, and other building materials
- Assembling and fastening materials to make frameworks or props
- Erecting temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists
- Assist in layout (joists, walls, trusses)
- Performing repairs on existing framework structures that are damaged or structurally unsound
- Efficient and safe use of power tools, measuring, and cutting of materials
- Occasional forklift operations and certifications
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent is required
- Must have valid driver's license with reliable transportation to and from the job site
- A minimum of one year of rough carpentry experience
- Basic understanding of building materials
- Ability to carry out various framing tasks while working alone & unsupervised
- Able to follow all company and OSHA safety rules and regulations
- Ability to maintain excellent attendance record
- Ability to work in a team environment and individually based on specific job requirements
- Ability to problem solve
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work at various heights
- Basic understanding of building materials
Preferred:
- Associates degree in carpentry or completion of carpentry apprenticeship preferred
- Experience working with equipment such as: boom lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts
- OSHA 10 certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 80 pounds at times
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Frequent bending, kneeling, twisting/turning, crouching, crawling
- Ability to climb, work on and carry a ladder
- Comfortable working at various heights
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves working in all climates as well as multi-story buildings on an active construction site. This role routinely is exposed to dust and noise associated with saws and power tools.
Special Requirements: This position requires regular in-state travel with the ability to work 45 - 50 hours per week Monday - Friday, with occasional hours outside of that range as business necessitates. This position may require overnight stay near job sites regularly.
