Job Summary and Qualifications
Under direct supervision of the Director of Plant Operations and Supervisor, Carpenter provides a safe and comfortable environment for employees, patients and visitors by maintaining the building and assets in neat, clean and top-operating condition.
What you will do in this role:
- Hang sheet rock, finish tape, install drop in ceilings, hang doors, and door jams, construct shelving from formica and wood, install vinyl, vet flooring, cove base, ceramic tile for floors and walls, installation of pictures, cabinets, television brackets, and other hardware, and equipment as needed by the hospital.
- Must keep all tools, parts, supplies in a neat organized and clean condition.
- All shop areas are to be kept clean daily.
What qualifications you will need:
- High school graduate or equivalent. Vocation and other education pertaining to the skills of a carpenter.
- Good vision with or without corrective devices. 100% use of all limbs. Good general health.
- Able to work in confined spaces. Able to work in strained positions.
- Requires walking and standing over 90% of the time.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighting up to 100 lbs. Able to function at heights up to 60 feet.
- Able to stoop, bend, climb ladders, work above head.
- Previous carpentry experience. (Maintenance) Minimum 5 years skills in cosmetic and carpentry, with ability to read blue prints and schematics of all maintenance related items.
- Must have good knowledge of how to lay vet flooring, drop in ceilings, hanging of sheet rock, taping, finish of drywall, patching holes, ceramic tiles, grouting.
