Summary:
The Career Development Manager assumes responsibility for day-to-day management of assigned program(s), including implementing and evaluating program policies, procedures, and standards; determining program service levels and enhancements; monitoring program budgets; and providing supervision to assigned program staff. The Career Development Manager oversees a variety of job placement procedures and community hiring efforts to support the thoughtful coordination of cross-functional initiatives within the Office of Community Health Equity and Engagement - Rush Education and Career Hub (REACH) department. The Career Development Manager acts as a liaison from the community to Rush Education and Career Hub for all programming efforts to identify, source and place candidates into vacant positions at Rush and across healthcare systems in Chicago. This individual will serve as a resource for staff on issues related to career planning. The position must exemplify the Rush mission, values, and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
- Work directly with students and staff to provide individual and group Career Development services for REACH students and alumni.
- Promotes awareness of career paths or opportunities, labor markets, job requirements and post-secondary educational programs.
- Develops and maintains relationships with local businesses or community organizations with the goal of providing job opportunities or co-op/internship experience to students.
- Will lead the creation, implementation, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive Career Development program, and must demonstrate world-class customer service.
- Partner with Human Resources (HR) peers, business leaders, community –based organizations, and educational partners to assess opportunities and drive innovative, high-impact talent development programs and initiatives.
- Develop a strong pipeline of qualified applicants to enter the healthcare workforce.
- Meet with students and alumni on a one-on-one basis to identify and evaluate career interests, employment readiness, and associated qualifications; coaches students on various employments skills, including resume, cover letter, and other employment document development, job searching, networking, interviewing, and transitioning from the classroom to the workforce; refers students to available positions, follows up with students and employers to ensure placements are satisfactory and successful.
- Identify challenges or barriers that might hinder employability, and assist staff in identifying services, supports, or referrals to community resources.
- Helps strengthen program policies and procedures to ensure that trainees successfully complete the program and access careers in healthcare.
- Evaluate outcomes and participants for program and grant reporting.
- Maintains an awareness of local job market and opportunities to assist in providing guidance to clients; may arrange for employment interviews, attend job fairs, conduct special workshops, presentations, group orientations, or perform other training and outreach activities.
- Develop comprehensive services, programs, and resources to assist students with their career and academic planning towards employment goals.

Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 6-7 years in workforce development or similar field.
- Experience in any/all of the following: Supervision, teaching, training, and development.
- Ability to establish/maintain excellent community relations.
- Extensive knowledge of occupations, job skills, and labor market trends, community resources and vocational services that impact public housing residents. Knowledge and understanding of job referral and placement procedures.

- Master’s degree in field related to human services, public health, educational administration, business development or other relevant background.
- Interest in and experience working with students in a higher education setting; experience working with healthcare-related majors preferred.
