Job description

The Career and Student Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for ensuring successful completion rates and building and maintaining student relationships to prepare students for the welding industry. The CSSC will establish and maintain employer contacts and training partners in the industry.

The CSSC will accomplish this by actively participating in new student orientation and graduation, presenting a series of classroom presentations, following up with the students during the duration of their training, employment follow-up, facilitating seminars, and maintaining all ACCET required documentation for completion and placement. Visiting welding companies will be essential for building and maintaining partnerships.

As part of the job, the CSSC will serve as a liaison for the students in gaining employment with the industry.

The Career and Student Services Coordinator is expected to maintain an 80% completion rate and an 85% placement rate for graduates. The ACCET accreditation minimum standard is 67% completion and placement of 70% of graduates in training related jobs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets with students during the duration of the program to assist with completion requirements
  • Contacts students who are absent from class daily
  • Places students into training related, gainful employment
  • Interviews all students during each set interval to determine his or her career goals and qualifications
  • Notifies students/graduates of job openings and encourages them to achieve goals
  • Seeking and cultivating new job openings through site visits, networking, searching online and in publications, and any other available lead source, referral, etc.
  • Aggressively follows-up on all referrals, interviews and placements
  • Documents all placement activities in the appropriate places including the SIS, student file and on the 28.1s
  • Coordinates student who withdraw from the program to reenter the program.
  • Assists graduates returning back to school for additional pre-employment training and/or updating of skills, when necessary
  • Accepts responsibility to create and maintain quality placements for graduates in all programs to meet established goals
  • Teaches classes on communication skills and employability skills focusing on resume writing
  • Conducts resume writing and interview skills workshops in the student resource center to ensure all graduates have a resume
  • Communicates with Instructors to assess students’ skill levels and qualifications and determine if training is meeting his/her needs and career goals (course of action)
  • Conducts Job Fairs and open house events
  • Maintains employer job boards for students
  • Keeps accurate records of site locations and Students’ employment
  • Compiles and keeps current job placement statistics on each enrollee
  • Conducts follow-up on each enrollee until gainful employment is met
  • Completes employment verification forms
  • Conducts graduate employer surveys
  • Maintains and documents all activity with job leads obtained for students who reject jobs
  • Reports quarterly completions and placements on document 28.1
  • Assists with the graduation ceremony by helping to find the venue, creating the program, and coordinating the staff to assure success of the event
  • Assists with New Student Orientations by ensuring consistency and adherence to standards of the company’s mission and goals
  • Assists in planning and implementing programs and services that assist students to re-enter, continue, and complete their academic programs

· Emails student resumes to appropriate parties on request, if permitted by the FERPA.

· Reports completion and placement on the 28.1s monthly to the EVP.

· Recommends students that may be a good fit for a position and Company

  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
