Summary
Cardiology Technician 2 is responsible for the supervision of Cardiology Technicians and support personnel in a cardiology service operating on a shift basis.
Responsibilities
Operates electrocardiography equipment throughout the hospital. Scans halter tapes; identifies significant electrocardiographic abnormalities; processes and prepares halter reports for cardiologists interpretation. Plans, schedules, supervises and coordinates the work of technicians and support personnel in a manner conducive to departmental standards. Supervises the preparation of electrocardiograms and insures interpretation by physician. Orients, instructs and trains personnel in the use of electrocardiographic equipment and techniques. Provides in service training to personnel as required. Plans and assists in the implementation of assigned projects; assists in equipment evaluations and purchasing decisions. Makes computer modifications or adjustments as necessary, which affects services rendered. Participates with the departments quality assurance plans. Handles and resolves emergency situations as they occur. Conducts regular staff meetings as necessary with staff and keeps them informed of all hospital and departmental activities. Evaluates individual and unit performance, counsel technicians and investigates, analyzes and prepares recommendation for appropriate disciplinary action. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Education
High school diploma is required.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
Credentials
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements - Job function requires frequent sitting, standing or walking for extended period of time. Must be able to carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of computers. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment.
