Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Be responsible for driving the bus, providing and maintaining a safe environment for all children, providing appropriate discipline and ensuring that all children are being safe and riding the bus the safest to their ability.
Must be able to do the following on a daily basis:
- Safely operate the buses under all weather conditions
- Inspect and ensure cleanliness of buses interior and exterior
- Must be able to communicate with all staff, students and parents
- Report any and all delays/breakdowns, and or emergencies to dispatch
- Must be available to attend all school inservice meetings, and prepare to do emergency bus evacuations
- Be available for other duties throughout the day
Education and work related Experiences:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Safe driving history
- Enjoy working with children
Licenses, Registrations, and or certificates:
- Criminal background check
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- CPR and first aid certifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass annual CDE written test
- Must pass annual driving performance test
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must have a record of safe driving per motor vehicle record check
- Must pass drug and alcohol /drug screen per the board policy
Technical skills, knowledge and Abilities:
- English language
- People skills
- Customer service skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of Federal and Colorado laws to transport children
- Ability to read maps and route sheets
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to defuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Ability to promote and follow the school boards policies
