Job Summary
The Flagstar Debt Capital Markets ("DCM") team is responsible for structuring, arranging and distributing syndicated credit facilities for Flagstar's Wholesale Banking teams, including specialized teams in Commercial Real Estate, Homebuilder Finance, Sponsor Finance, Lender Finance and Warehouse & MSR Lending, in addition to Corporate Banking and Middle Market. The Capital Markets Associate will work with senior members of the DCM team to support ongoing origination of syndicated debt transactions throughout the bank's footprint. The Associate may be assigned to a specialized wholesale lending category (i.e. Commercial Real Estate) and apply subject matter experience specific to that category. The role will primarily be responsible for execution-related work, including developing pitch materials, drafting term sheets and offering materials, and managing control of information through the syndications process with bank partners. The Associate will be expected to develop trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, including educating Relationship Managers ("RMs") and Portfolio Managers ("PMs") on syndications-related topics. This position will also be responsible for developing relationships with syndicate bank partners in order to maintain a strong investor base to successfully syndicate transactions. Additionally, the Associate will be responsible for supporting agency services for the existing syndicated portfolio.
This position can be in Troy, MI, Cleveland, OH, Manhattan, NY, Atlanta, GA, Houston TX or Denver CO.
Job Responsibilities:

• Execution-related activities to support the distribution of syndicated credit facilities.
  • Produce and coordinate the completion of investor material (Confidential Information Memos and Lender Presentations).
  • Manage the bank meeting process, including working with Borrower management teams to create Lender Presentation materials and maintain lists of potential investors.
  • Support deal execution during the syndications process by managing external client and investor requests, maintaining contact, syndication status, and questions lists, etc.
  • Assist in review, preparation and negotiation of term sheets, fee letters, and loan documentation; understanding of key terms and able to explain/negotiate with syndicate bank lenders.
  • Ensure participant lenders receive due diligence and legal documentation in order to achieve a successful closing process. Including collaborating with external legal counsel and internal partners during the closing and funding process.

• Drive and support new business activity.
  • Research industry information, current market conditions, and comparable deal structures to assist with syndication strategies and market intel. Create and maintain systems to monitor and act on this information.
  • Create pitch and marketing materials, including presentations, and deal tombstones. Maintain and update templates for pitch and marketing materials in consultation with other internal business partners.
  • Contribute to new business development activities with guidance from RMs and senior members of the DCM team; advise and assist on driving syndication revenue.
  • Participate in structuring of transactions with other members of the deal team, including senior members of DCM, RMs, PMs and Credit Administration.

• Reporting & Tracking Responsibilities
  • Manage secure virtual data rooms for syndicated transactions, including controlling access requests, posting financials and reporting information, and ensuring information is current and in compliance with legal documentation.
  • General support of group activities which would include: making investor and client calls (in person and via phone), credit presentations and other support activities.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of three (3) years of credit analyst experience (syndications or Capital Markets experience preferred)
• Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant banking experience preferably supporting sales execution activities.
• Subject matter experience in a specialized wholesale lending category such as Commercial Real Estate may be required.
• Bachelor's Degree Required (Finance, Business, Economics or Math)
• Attention to detail

• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Highly proficient with S&P Capital IQ, LoanConnector, Bloomberg, and other research tools

• Credit training is preferred
• Travel: at least 25%
