To perform this position properly, the incumbent needs to be totally knowledgeable of the factors that affect the capacity and stability of our products. Must have knowledge of factors that affect truck capacity and stability, and mechanical knowledge sufficient to evaluate reasonableness of ratings generated. The existence of multiple ratings systems applied to a variety of products (current and non-current) built in several plants adds to the complexity of the position. Because of additional experience required with this position, the incumbent is expected to operate with more autonomy than lower positions in the family. Identify field modifications which do not comply with HYG policies or O.S.H.A. / A.S.M.E. guidelines and communicate remedied to dealer personnel, calculate capacity and stability figures for trucks modified in the field and produce appropriate plates. Recommend policy and procedural changes, inform supervisor of exceptional situations and recommend solutions.
With the additional experience in this role, this individual can provide input to cross functional groups with more authority and confidence so proper, accurate product readiness decisions can be made on a broader level.
Capacity Engineer I
This position provides the means for customers and dealers to comply with O.S.H.A. regulations by providing name plate information and replacement name plates for Hyster and Yale product modified in the field. This position guards against incorrect component changes that affect stability and safe operation of Hyster and Yale trucks. Information is verified from truck records or calculated based on truck options added to the truck to create the necessary name plate.
Capacity Engineer II
The Capacity Plate Engineer II position will provide design and regulatory compliance guidance to both internal and external customers regarding front-end equipment configurations. This position provides the means for customers and dealers to comply with O.S.H.A. regulations by providing name plate information and replacement name plates for Hyster and Yale product modified in the field. This position guards against incorrect component changes that affect capacity, stability and safe operation of Hyster and Yale products. Information is verified from truck records or calculated based on truck options added to the truck to create the necessary name plate.
Capacity Engineer III
The Capacity Plate Engineer III position will provide design and regulatory compliance guidance to both internal and external customers regarding front-end equipment configurations. This position will operate with more autonomy than the Capacity Plate Engineer II position because of additional experience with HYG products and intended product applications. This position provides the means for customers and dealers to comply with O.S.H.A. regulations by providing name plate information and replacement name plates for Hyster and Yale product modified in the field. This position guards against incorrect component changes that affect capacity, stability and safe operation of Hyster and Yale products. Information is verified from truck records or calculated based on truck options added to the truck to create the necessary name plate.
The successful Capacity Engineer will have the following Key Accountabilities:
- Provide support to the Aftermarket Software Enabled Options (SEO) process to include software generation, troubleshooting, and record keeping
- Provide field replacement nameplates within government and industry standards within corporate for both current and non-current products.
- Provide production nameplates for Greenville and Ramos manufacturing facilities within government and industry standards within corporate guidelines to meet m manufacturing production schedules
- Provide capacity and stability data for sales quotations.
- Support sales teams by providing stability and capacity estimates for our product to size the right product for the application and solve customer challenges
- Manage and maintain a technical database of our product information to drive consistency and quality into work
- Support system and process continuous improvement activities by collaboration with internal and external customers
- Engage in company sponsored personal skill development activities for career growth and department improvement
The successful Capacity Engineer will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 year Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred, or Engineering Technology degree.
- 3-5 years on the job experience in generation of aftermarket/production nameplates along with electrical, hydraulic, and power train systems.
- Knowledge of statistics and dynamics of engineering mechanics, ability to do manual capacity, weight and balance calculations
- P.C. skills (Windows, Excel, Internet Explorer)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Basic programming and database skills (SQL) are preferred
