The Cancer Support Services Director leads the Center's administrative team, physicians, staff and numerous Eisenhower departments in planning, implementing and directing the wide range of education and Support Services offered at Eisenhower's Lucy Curci Cancer Center (ELCCC). Primary responsibilities include program development, financial management, staff management, and marketing in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Center's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) . This position is responsible for community outreach including the PR/Marketing of webinars; lectures; lunch & learns; podcasts; TV and radio interviews, and serves as the community engagement leader for the Cancer Center working with Eisenhower's Foundation staff, donors and community organizations to promote engagement, raise awareness and secure funding for services.

Qualifications
Education
Required: Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
Licensure/Certification
Required: Certification in Oncology Social Work (OSW-C)
Experience
Required: Ten (10) years of experience in Social Work with progressive experience managing patient and family Support Services programs and community education
Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required
Sound clinical knowledge/practice in public health education and community outreach, as well as psychosocial issues related to health and wellness
Knowledge of community resources
Ability to identify opportunities for the development of new programs and services that support the mission and goals of EMC
Ability to engage staff to work collaboratively to maximize and broaden existing EMC programs to meet new patient populations and new outreach goals
Strong communication skills & ability to interact with medical staff
Ability to write clinical/programmatic sections of grant applications, manage and monitor grant funds, and provide annual reporting as needed
Ability to engage medical staff in building team consensus on patient and community support/education/outreach
Ability to maintain existing - and identify new - community partners through networking and engaging in community outreach activities
Public speaking, organizational and instructional skills as necessary to address a wide variety of audiences for varying purposes
Ability to draft reports, oversee disbursement of monies through special purpose funds, and manage budgets
Essential Job Specific Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Program Management
Directs strategy and scope of practice for direct patient care by social work, navigation and case management.
Oversees/trains multiple social workers and MSW Interns, RN Navigators, and Concierge.
Administer and manage contracts for independent contractor-led services.
Creates and oversees Distress Screening of all LCCC patients, required for CoC and QOPI accreditation.
Create policies and procedures.
Initiates community needs assessments and develops programs, support groups, and patient education accordingly.
Reports to the Cancer Committee ensuring cancer program Support Services standards are met for CoC accreditation.
Creates and provides Oversight of Cancer Support Services Programs annual budget.
Provides leadership for the LCCC clinical team, manages personal differences, and maintains focus on patient needs.
Provides social work back-up support for supportive, educational, and problem-solving information and support groups for patients and their loved ones.
Provides social work back-up support for 1:1 psychosocial counseling.
Provides and teaches problem solving techniques to patients, families, and staff.
3. Marketing and Business Development, Community and Provider Education, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention:
Oversees the production of content and marketing materials and identifies presenters for community and provider education, health promotion and disease prevention.
Oversees the design and production of special events such as UCSD/LCCC lectures, Evening of Caring, Community Cancer Awareness Day, Community Skin Cancer Screenings, etc.
Works in conjunction with Eisenhower's Public Relations and Marketing departments to oversee LCCC website content.
As directed by the CAO, provides oversight and management of certain marketing and business development projects.
Effectively represents LCCC to a variety of local, state and national non-profits/organizations.
Maintains promotion plan and master calendar for Cancer Support Services.
As time allows, participates on local, state and national cancer non-profit boards.
4. Donor Relations, Fund Disbursements, Grant Applications:
Works in conjunction with Eisenhower's Foundation Office and CAO to cultivate donor relations.
Plays a lead role in engaging donors at fund raising events, including speaking and other activities.
Directs and oversees Special Purpose Funds and grants related to Cancer Support Services.
Develops grant proposals for supportive care events, programs, etc.
5. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
