POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Camp Reed Program Director oversees assigned areas of a YMCA branch, which include hiring, staff management, programs, and facilities. The Camp Reed Program Director participates in volunteer and staff development, financial development, community relations, and collaborations with community agencies to promote the programs, mission, and values of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- In collaboration with the Senior Director, manages, monitors, and recommends adjustments to assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets.
- Assists in developing, planning, and implementing all Camp Reed traditional camp programming to provide great quality, excellent customer service, consistency, and compliance with American Camp Association standards, YMCA mission, and YMCA values.
- In collaboration with the Senior Director, recruits, hires, trains, develops, directs, and motivates Camp Reed employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance and ensures staff certifications and trainings are up to date.
- Provides leadership and supervision to summer staff, volunteers, internal branch operations, and all day-to-day operations at Camp Reed during the Summer Camp season.
- Oversee Junior Counselor program, including recruitment and JC Weekend training.
- Manage intake, development of materials, and Daxko registrations for all camp programs (Traditional, Mini, CIT, JC, Store).
- Purchase programming supplies and direct operations of the Camp Store (including merchandise for resale inventory and purchasing) in accordance with the annual budget and camp needs.
- Assists with all Camp Reed fundraising efforts including the Camp Reed Auction, Endowment and Annual Campaign as directed by the Association Youth Development Executive. Take leadership in applying for grants or funding opportunities that benefit traditional camp programming.
- Serves as a member of YMCA Impact Team and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA and Camp Reed.
- Assists in planning and organizing alumni events.
- Knows, reviews, and applies all safety, emergency, and child abuse prevention policies and procedures, supplies leadership and documentation of events, and responds to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA protocol.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Association Youth Development Executive and Senior Director of Camp Reed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business, or a related field, or equivalent.
- May be substituted with four years of relevant experience.
- May be substituted with an associate degree and two years of work experience in a related field.
- At least 1-3 years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
- Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Preferred experience in fundraising and board development.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Completion of YMCA required trainings upon hire.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

STARTING PAY: $22.50-$24/hr
