Empowered Hospitality is looking for a Cafe General Manager in New York City! The ideal candidate has 2-3 years of managerial experience in a Cafe or Bakery concept.
About the Role
The Cafe General Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Cafe and Bakery. They direct and coach the salaried management team in the process, ensuring the team member experience, guest experience, and financial health of the business align with our company's standards, vision, and goals. The Cafe General Manager actively leads by example, inspires, and teaches skills to elevate the guest experience and their teams.
Cafe General Manager Responsibilities:
- Act as a role model for staff and ambassador for the company, reflecting its unique culture, positive attitude, and excellent standards at all times
- Opens or closes establishment; Completes opening or closing checklist, as applicable
- Manages hourly employees in their daily responsibilities, providing clear, effective direction
- Prepares staff schedules and/or as directed by the Director of Operations
- Able to perform all POS functions, including opening and closing procedures, comps, voids, transfers, and back-of-house administration (employee creation, menu management, etc.).
- Plans, executes and communicates all promotions and information effectively and efficiently
- Conducts DOH walk-throughs multiple times per day when on duty to ensure DOH compliance; addresses all DOH violations immediately
- Promotes and practices safe work habits; identifies and resolves potential safety hazards; Documents accidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause of safety incidents in the interest of maintaining a safe work environment
- Ensures that all team members are educated on our products and services
- Ensures that all Company drink and food recipes procedures are followed, maintaining the highest quality and consistent product standards
- 3+ years’ experience as a restaurant manager of a similar caliber concept
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Culinary Management, or a similar subject, preferred
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions under pressure maintain professionalism when working under stress
- Ability to utilize traditional software programs such as Gmail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and
- PowerPoint), POS systems, and any additional systems as needed; Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
- Participates in community events and ensures corporate social responsibility goals of the Company are met
- Ensures that all staff are compliant with the Company’s policies and procedures, as well as city, state, and federal laws
- Attends mandatory meetings, including staff meetings, leadership meetings, etc.
