Looking for someone who has minimal wiring/cabling/electrical experience really wanting to get into industry and learn about the cabling industry. Candidates will get hands on training experience and have opportunity to grow with company. 2 positions available! Apply to posting if interested!

Description:

Looking for Field Technicians capable of completing daily tasks. Must be willing to learn, work hard and instill a positive culture to team. Ability to understand project requirements and keep projects on track. Looking for an extremely accountable person how has reliable transportation and can be punctual. Will be required to report to job site daily. Any long distance jobs transportation or mileage reimbursement (over 50 miles) will be provided.

Local candidates as jobs will be at Denver Metro Area locations

Must have experience

Must be able to pass drug test (No exceptions even in Colorado)

Must pass DMV and Background check

Must have tools such as drill, snips, ladder, punchdown, screwdrivers, measuring tape and plyers.

POSITION SUMMARY

Working as a member of a project team, the Technician I is primarily responsible for enhancing over-all job site productivity and ensuring high-quality work. The Technician will work with multiple aspects of the Cable Installation process including RFID, CAT5, CAT6, fiber, rack, stack, patch, pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room build-out, cable terminations, labeling, and grounding. The Technician's goal is to complete tasks with a high degree of quality and efficiency, while practicing professionalism for optimal job performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Installation of structured cabling systems including all aspects of the installation process.

Reads and interprets all floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets.

Properly sets up a variety of testers.

Performs system testing and troubleshooting as required.

Terminates, labels, tests and troubleshoots structure cabling installations.

Proactively oversee and lead job site organization and basic housekeeping maintenance.

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Maintain satisfactory compliance with customer security requirements.

Excel in technical tasks such as testing and troubleshooting.

Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High school diploma or GED required

Experience:

Minimum 6 months - 2 years’ work experience in Structured Cabling or related industry/construction experience.

Able to distinguish color codes

POSITION BONUS ATTRIBUTES

Hands on experience with fiber and copper installations/projects

Hands on experience with security devices for access control, intrusion detection and CCTV installations/projects

Hands on experience with DAS/Wireless projects

Hands on experience with AV projects

Obtain company approved (manufacturer) certifications

Obtain BICSI Installer either Level 1 or Level 2 certification

This includes understanding applicable codes, standards, and industry-best practices and the ability to differentiate between them and make recommendations.

Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook.

Ability to listen carefully to and follow instructions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. Ability to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms on intermittent to regular basis daily. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. The employee may be required to work in tight, confined spaces. The employee must demonstrate regular and on-time attendance. There could be a requirement of occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

1. What is your strongest area of expertise? (initial questions to understand what level of exposure they’ve had to the industry)

2. Have you run cable? Have you dressed cable?

4. Have you installed an IDF/MDF closet from the ground up, including pathways? (if this candidate hasn’t installed pathways – supports, cable tray, fiber runner -, plus cabling at the Tech 2 level then they aren’t a Tech 2)

5. What is a punch down? Can you go into detail? Have you punchdown & terminated cable?

6. How long does it take to punch down 24 or 48 patch panels?

7. Do you know your color codes?

8. Do you have experience with using BOTH ends of a Versiv Fluke tester for fiber and/or copper? (not a MUST, but nice to have)

9. If you were to do Quality Assurance, what are some things you would be looking for?

• Labeling of the cable

• Labeling of the patch panels

• Termination point

• Clean consistent dressing

10. How would you best describe a supervisor that brings the best out in you? (ideally focusing on effective communication, coaching, and creating a positive work environment/culture)

11. Can you provide an example of a time you had little to no direction in solving an issue; what happened/what did you do (looking for someone who will ask questions and escalate if not getting an answer)

12. Do you have any experience completing work in a live data center environment? (not a MUST but nice to have)
