Cabinet Finisher

Strom Minnesota is currently looking for an experienced Cabinet Finisher for our client in Maple Grove, MN.

Job Summary:

The Cabinet Finishers prepare, paint, and/or stain custom cabinetry according to customer specifications. We use high quality formaldehyde-free polyurethane and lacquer-based products. Cabinet Finishers are proficient in all steps of the finishing process. This position utilizes a variety of application techniques including spraying, hand-wiping, brushing, toning, and glazing while meeting quality standards and maintaining production flow.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

§  Review work instructions for product information and specifications.

§  Prep cabinets for finishing using hand tools.

o   Sand

o   Remove dust from surfaces prior to the application of product.

§  Prepare paint for application according to manufacturers recommendations.

§  Stain

§  Spray

§  Apply primer, sealer, and painted topcoats.

§  Create standard stain samples used to assist customers in the selection process.

§  Operate Makor (automated painting machinery) and inspect finished application for quality.

§  Regularly inspect and maintain finishing equipment and tools to maximize productivity.

§  Maintain an organized and clean work area.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to understand and take direction.
• Attention to detail is required to ensure colors and application meet quality standards.
• Knowledgeable in the safe use of equipment such as, paint guns, hand tools, hazardous materials.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
• Ability to work efficiently as a part of a team and communicate effectively with other departments and personnel.
• Understanding of necessary mathematics         

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior finishing experience preferred
• At least two years related experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

§  Prolonged periods of standing

§  Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times
