Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Purchase fabrications, paint, components and parts to ensure production schedules are achieved through management of on-time delivery, quality, cost and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Purchase fabrications and paint services from a BOM using engineering drawings.
- Use the Master Production Schedule, project planning and good time management skills to ensure efficiency and on-time delivery.
- Issue purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers as needed
- Coordinate with engineering, assembly, and sales as necessary. Provide feedback to engineering regarding BOM accuracy
- Be intimately familiar with the company’s equipment, business systems, processes and suppliers.
- Ensure all fabrications and components are purchased to meet master schedule and supplier requirements
- Find the best sources to meet the company’s objectives. Negotiate pricing to achieve company financial goals.
- Develop and manage suppliers.
- Meet or exceed annual goals as outlined in the S&OP plan.
- Maintain the Master Parts List (MPL) – nomenclature, accuracy, pricing, EOQ
- Follow-up and expedite orders as necessary. Provide open orders information at weekly meeting.
- Exemplify a “can-do” attitude and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Promote teamwork, positive communication and cross-functional problem solving.
- Build Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to ISO 9000 and / or 16949 standards.
- Establish and promote a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company’s quality policy and financial objectives.
- Follow all lean, 5S and flow manufacturing principles.
- Visit suppliers as needed.
- Be a good steward of company resources.
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2-yr college degree or four years of related experience
- AWS, fabrication, welding, wet paint and powder coat knowledge / experience
- Strong work ethic and teamwork skills essential.
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, e-mail, Quickbooks or ERP)
- APICS training encouraged
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, manage time and adapt in order to meet company goals and objectives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.
- Regularly use arms, hands and fingers to manipulate office tools.
- Must be able to lift up to 45lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Regularly works in an equipment manufacturing environment exposed to noise, dust and vibration.
- Operate office equipment and computer.
