Work Arrangement:

  • This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum.

  • This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate

The Role :

As a Buyer you will be responsible for sourcing Technology purchases (Software, Software as a Service, Infrastructure) on a regional and global basis. Responsible for actively participating in the development of commodity strategy, sourcing/negotiations, and collaborating with suppliers or internal partners on technology requirements, security and legal in order to complete sourcing recommendations and agreements. The work is of a sophisticated nature involving a considerable amount of initiative, analytical work and judgment.

What You'll Do :

  • Understand the software industry and the long-term software direction GM is headed

  • Responsible for maintaining sourcing pipeline, benchmarking data, strategy presentations and annual renewal deadlines 

  • Adhere to corporate and unit purchasing and accounting practices and procedures 

  • Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include, but not limited to:  Sourcing event bid strategy & management, Bid analytics, Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components, including Terms & Conditions, SOR, technical documentation, Leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment, and Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services.

  • Negotiate price, terms, and other items to complete full contract package

  • Cooperate with legal to negotiate special contract terms 

  • Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items 

  • Support commercial budget activities 

  • Support supplier management initiatives, including “Strategic Supplier Engagement” 

  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution 

  • Perform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requests 

  • Participate in supplier KPI reviews 

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):  

  • Minimum 2+ Years Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related experience required 

  • Experience with commodities or understanding of basic technology (licensing and Legal) concepts required 

  • High level of capability to work independently

  • Highly proficient oral and written communication skills 

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex 

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and ability to collaborate cross-functionally 

  • Negotiation skills 

  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time 

  • Capable of interpreting contracts 

  • Demonstrated global business skills 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Information Technology, or related field required 

  • Ability to travel 

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):  

  • Software purchasing experience

  • Cost analysis experience 

  • Automotive industry experience 

  • Capable of interpreting market data 

  • Solid knowledge of contract law and its applications regarding purchasing processes
