Salary Range: $85,180 to $113,500

The Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction (MOVR) Business Relationship Manager will serve as the primary organizer of project operations across the office. The Project Manager will support MOVR Leadership on all operational engagements while ensuring efficient operations and excellent customer service internally and externally. The Business Relationship Manager is responsible for ensuring the schedule, budget and details of projects are well organized for timely delivery. They communicate to keep the office aligned and all key resources engaged for operational success and execution of project plans. In addition, they organize reporting, plan meetings, and provide updates to stakeholders (internal and external) and MOVR leadership. They communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships to the benefit of the office. The Project Manager properly plans and designates project resources, monitors progress of timelines and secures key resources. This is all done having the perspective and understanding of MOVR’s goals, plans and strategies.

Supervision Received:

This position receives guidance regarding overall mission, short and long-term objectives, scheduling, unusual priorities, and is expected to structure their workday to accomplish established goals. This position can work independently and support high achieving teams that engage on critical projects and utilize multiple technical platforms. Direction received will range from specific and task oriented to general with collaboration expected to shape the final deliverable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Expect to perform other duties as assigned.

  • Develop recommendations to streamline MOVR processes
  • Perform various project coordination tasks, like facilitating a recurring violence analysis to determine neighborhoods and individuals most afflicted by violence
  • Researches and analyzes routine violence model best practices
  • Assists in coordinating activities of the Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction with City departments, including but not limited to, the Atlanta Police Department, outside agencies, and citizen groups
  • Manage project documentation and filings, record-keeping, document preparation, bill or invoice processing, technical support, and other related internal operations
  • Represents the City in the community, at meetings, conferences, and workshops
  • Assists in creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Perform a wide variety of executive administrative duties as required by daily operations and in direct support of the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction
  • Develops and recommends policies, procedures and systems in alignment with the city departments that direct city policies, procedures and systems
  • Assists with coordinating city-wide programs or projects related to Violence Reduction, prevention and intervention
  • Assists in developing the strategic framework for Violence Reduction based upon the recommendations from the Anti-Violence Advisory Council and community input
  • Assists in continuous pursuit of appropriate State and Federal grant opportunities to support MOVR intervention, prevention, and reduction policies
  • Prepares and reviews written communications and reports; drafts correspondence, schedules, memos, spreadsheets, and other documents from notes, dictation and other sources
  • Serves as a liaison for MOVR and other City Departments, divisions and outside agencies; negotiates and resolves significant issues.
  • Serves as a MOVR representative on special projects, committees and tasks forces as assigned.
  • Provides follow up to assignments given to members of the management team
    and provides status reports
  • Coordinate strategic planning efforts related to Violence Reduction
  • Participates and assists in the development and administration of MOVR budget; performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
  • Liaise with multiple city departments and offices, and external partners to ensure that interdepartmental project timelines, meeting schedules and project requirements remain on track.
  • Assists in managing grant awards from initial application to completion with stakeholders
  • Tracks and reports key milestones related specifically to MOVR initiatives
  • Assists with coordination and facilitation of Violence prevention initiatives including legislative analysis, stakeholder roundtables, summits, and planning sessions

Decision Making:

Provides input regarding decisions that impact management and project delivery

Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.

Applies organizational policies to recommend strategy or policy changes.

Provides project guidance as required to less experienced staff, interns, temporary employees, etc.

Leadership Provided:

This role can function as a Key Individual Contributor or may have Team Lead, Supervisory, or Management responsibilities of a work group. Routinely provides knowledge-based guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff in relation to projects and key departmental initiatives.

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Knowledge of Violence prevention, intervention, and reduction programs
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication, including writing, speaking and active listening.
  • Superior project management skills, including organization, planning, time management and prioritization
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively, having accuracy and attention to detail. Team-working skills with good verbal and written communication having ability to organize and manage time effectively, demonstrating accountability and dependability.
  • Ability to motivate others and lead, but must be a Self-starter, self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently. Has critical thinking skills with effective judgement and decision making.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Experience advancing projects through the full life cycle
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
  • Multitasking skills, ability to work under pressure. Ability to handle deadlines and avoid schedule conflicts.
