Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what's possible. We inspire guests of all ages to connect with the significance of space exploration as incredible feats of human spaceflight continue to bring joy and wonder to the world. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.
We are currently seeking a full-time Business Operations Specialist responsible for managing education budgets, purchasing, pricing, agreement sponsorship and grant fulfillment. Responsible for Research program business agreement management and fulfillment. Responsibilities and qualifications are shown below:
Responsibilities:
- Financial liaison with Finance, Development, Sponsorship and Business Development departments ensuring proper utilization of funding and fulfillment.
- Manage the financial implementation of emerging partnerships and business relationships specifically focused on Education and Research Programs.
- Compile and analyze financial data for Education and Research programs
- Oversee all purchasing and budget compliance for department
- Conducting cost analysis for programs, building the pricing models, and overseeing the approval process with Finance.
- Work closely with Directors and VP with budget development, implementation, and reporting.
- Manage contracts - ensuring proper organizational approval and fulfillment.
- Work closely with Chief Science Officer and VP on development and implementation of our Road Map for Science and Research integration.
- Work collaboratively with external partners and SCH staff in the development and support of space flight research and education opportunities
- Act as Project Manager for special projects within Education and Research.
- Provide support as needed for special events, including educational conferences, professional development and programs for children and youth.
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Education, Research and Collections.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or related field preferred
- Three years' experience in business, education, or project management
- Experience in international business or education environments
- Experience with budget management and accounting skills preferred
- Must have the ability to interact with clients and represent the company in a professional manner.
- Experience managing partnerships from contracting to fulfillment
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating social skills, confidentiality, sensitivity, and professionalism.
- Must be dependable and able to work with limited supervision
- Excellent organization skills and a versatile team player Strong attention to detail and proofreading ability.
- Computer literacy with highly advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office365 especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- The ability to juggle and prioritize simultaneous assignments in a demanding environment.
- Strong knowledge of NASA and commercial space missions, math, and science fundamentals preferred.
- A passion for space exploration.
- Available to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 (commensurate with experience)
