Has the responsibility and the defined authority for the implementation of the documented QMS and FSMS; and for evaluating these in relation to the appropriate American and International Standards. Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of the ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 quality and food safety systems and its standards for industrial processes, material and product. Reports on the performance of the QMS and FSMS to top management (Plastipak Packaging, Inc.) as a basis for continual improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY:
1. Serves as the Management Representative and Food Safety Team Leader for ISO 9001 and FSSC 22000 programs.
2. Responsible for managing/leading the Food Safety Team and organizing its work.
3. Responsible for reporting food safety issues and initiating corrective action.
4. Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating the ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 management review and internal audit programs (ISO 9001 and ISO 22000).
5. Responsible for maintaining records pertaining to management review, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 audit records.
6. Reports to the site Steering and Food Safety Team on the effectiveness and suitability of the ISO 9001 and Food Safety (FSSC 22000) programs.
7. Responsibility and authority as outlined in the Executive Summary, Operational Procedures and Work Instructions.
8. Ensuring the relevant training and education of the Food Safety Team Members.
9. Ensures that the ISO 9001 and Food Safety Management Systems are established, implemented, maintained and updated as necessary.
10. Responsibility and authority as outlined in the Executive Summary, Operational Procedures and all Instruction manuals.
11. Functions within the ISO/Team environment.
12. Conducts QMS and FSMS internal auditor training and certification. Oversees the audit programs. Conducts audits.
13. Acts as the liaison with external parties on matters relating to the quality and food safety systems.
14. Demonstrate Leadership and Commitment with respect to the Quality Management System (QMS). Note: Reference ISO 9001:2015 section 5.1.1.
15. Demonstrate Leadership and Commitment with respect to Customer Focus. Note: Reference ISO 9001:2015 section 5.1.2.
16. Communicate and Promote Awareness and Understanding of our Quality Policy. Note: Reference ISO 9001:2015 section 5.2.2.
17. Ensure that the responsibilities and authorities for relevant roles are assigned, communicated and understood within the organization. Note: Reference ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 22000:2018 section 5.3.
- Ensures that the QMS conforms to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015
- Ensures that the FSMS conforms to the requirements of ISO 22000:2018.
- Ensures that Quality and Food Safety Management System processes are delivering their intended outputs - or working with the Steering Team to determine and document continual improvement opportunities when they are not.
- Reports on the performance of the Quality and Food Safety Management System and opportunities for improvement to Top Management.
- Ensures the promotion of Customer Focus throughout the organization.
- Ensures that the integrity of the Quality and Food Safety Management System is maintained when changes are planned and implemented.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Bachelor's Degree or 10 years of combined trade school, vocational education, or work experience in a similar position.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills as demonstrated during the interviewing processes to effectively communicate with the Steering Team and Corporate Quality personnel.
3. Strong inter-personal skills as demonstrated during the interviewing process and verifiable references.
4. Submit to and pass drug screen test.
