About Amigos Por Vida - Friends For Life
Driven by our mission to ensure every child succeeds, the Business Manager will be responsible for establishing and enhancing protocols, procedures, and logistical plans to promote the smooth and effective operation of Amigos Por Vida - Friends For Life Public Charter School.
The Business Manager will also be responsible for other important duties related to compliance, reporting, and business operations, including data entry and record keeping. The Business Manager role is CRITICAL to the success of our school. You must care deeply about your work - we are on a mission to change the narrative about what our students can achieve.
The Business Manager will have the following key responsibilities:
- Working with the Director of Finance and the Superintendent to create procedures and routines that drive toward the school's mission of producing outstanding student outcomes.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all financial records as required by law.
- Ensuring Amigos Por Vida - Friends For Life Public Charter School complies with all Texas Education Agency policies and mandates.
- Create and manage documentation systems to ensure the school complies with all regulations.
- Creating and leading school-wide professional learning sessions on protocols and procedures.
- Assisting with the execution of recruitment and enrollment plans, including creating marketing materials, neighborhood canvassing, and communications with prospective parents.
- Assisting with onboarding new hires and explaining operational plans and procedures
- Planned and oversaw school events, including home visits, school tours, registration nights, and community open houses.
- Managing the school's social media presence and campaigns.
- Creating and executing a system for technology inventory maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Setting, communicating, and supporting staff on a high standard of expectations for classroom and building appearance.
- Managing the school's safety calendar and making regular updates to meet compliance with Local, State, and Federal laws.
- Establish, monitor, and manage all safety and risk management policies, procedures, and practices for the purpose of ensuring a safe environment for employees and students in their use of school facilities and transportation and to comply with legal requirements (e.g., OSHA and Workers' Compensation).
- Overseeing maintenance and materials requests.
- Managing the requisition and purchase order process.
- Overseeing and interfacing with all vendors and service providers, including food services and janitorial services, managing all RFPs (Request for Proposals), purchase orders, checks, and other related items.
- Manage National School Lunch Program (NSLP) activities, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and applications.
- Manage building, grounds, routine maintenance, school safety, and fixed assets, including custodial services.
- The Business Manager is responsible for managing non-instructional personnel, including attendance, child nutrition, custodians, and other personnel as assigned.
- Created purchase orders, tracked shipments, and followed up on administrative needs with vendors, including ordering, receipt, and maintenance of supplies.
- Ensuring student safety through the creation and practice of emergency plans.
- Participate as a member of the school’s leadership team with responsibility for leading and coordinating projects.
- Maintain appropriate levels of insurance to protect school district property and potential liabilities.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings or by conducting research.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
- A staunch belief that all students, regardless of race or socio-economic status, can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities required
- Experience working on a school-based operations team and or experience working in community development is preferred
- Experience as a teacher in a high-needs/and or urban setting preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Experience with business operations and finance, including knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders
- A demonstrated record of operating at a high level in a fast-paced and demanding school setting
- Knowledge of office equipment and services, including computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, phones, and software
- Open and receptive to feedback about performance and self-reflective about ways to improve
- A desire to develop, grow, and evolve professionally
- Deep alignment with the school's mission and core values
Salary and Benefits
The starting salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications, with the possibility of an annual retention and incentive bonus.
