Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Business Manager III Supervisor. The Business Manager is a member of the Dean's Office team embracing the challenges of achieving community goals for the School of Arts and Sciences-Newark (SASN) and supporting efforts to grow together as a team. The position provides a wide scope and variety of business services to a portfolio of academic departments, programs, and administrative areas (collectively known as Departments) and is responsible for a team of staff working within those Departments. Business services supported by position and team includes budget and financial oversight; procurement; employee appointments and payroll; grant administration and accounting; travel and expense reimbursement; and financial closings, projections, and reporting. The position is a key resource to Departments and advisor to the Dean's Office, developing their administrative team to enable the provision of excellent support to the Departments.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following key duties:
* Works with Departments to communicate, adopt, implement, and enforce budget, accounting, and grant administration policies and procedures.
* Serves as a conduit for information sharing across Departments, advocates for, and represents Departments interests.
* Provides guidance to and assists Departments administrators and is their first point of contact for SASN and RU policy implementation and compliance in the areas of budget, accounting, and grant administration.
* Analyzes and reviews financial data, prepares financial statements and reports for both internal and external purposes, and resolves a diverse range of problems consistent with an understanding of mission, vision, role, and goals of the Departments and SASN and consistent with a comprehensive understanding of accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable regulations, and University policies and procedures.
* Interprets, communicates, and implements policies and practices to meet the needs of diverse client populations.
* Must be able to multitask and manage several complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, stakeholder-focused, team environment with an understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the Departments, SASN, and Rutgers, and the role the tasks and responsibilities of this position play in the achievement of these goals.
