This individual will also be responsible for supporting the integration of those systems with other applications. The Business Intelligence Lead Engineer will design and implement reporting and analytical solutions, including both the design of table structures and the processes used to populate those structures with data from internal and external sources.
The data provided by the Business Intelligence Lead Engineer will help Agency teams drive improvement in key operational metrics, ridership experience, and business results. This role will interact with various development teams, project managers, internal and external customers, senior management, and external vendors. The position operates under administrative supervision reporting to the Manager, IT Service Development and supervises the Business Intelligence team within the IT department. Some after-hours work may be required to resolve outages or to modify systems during scheduled maintenance windows.

Bachelor's Degree in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Business Information Systems, Computer Science or a closely related field and five (5) years' experience in Business Intelligence systems, large scale data analysis, and other advanced business reporting tools OR Equivalent combination of education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.

Evaluates and recommends database/data warehouse components, including hardware, relational database management systems, ETL software, metadata management tools, and database design solutions.
Conducts research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Assesses and recommends long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Directs, organizes, and leads projects in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems.
Leads the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
Designs, codes, tests, and documents all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs.
Develops the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
Develops graphs and portal interfaces.
Assists in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
Analyzes user requirements and, based on findings, designs functional specifications for BI front-end applications.
Produces ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.
Designs and delivers end-user training and training materials; provides technical support as necessary.
Troubleshoots BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary.
Acts as evangelist for BI benefits across the organization; promote BI usage to relevant departments.
Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors and third-party service providers, acts as a liaison between such entities and other I.T. personnel to resolve issues.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
