We are currently looking for Data Visualization / Business Intelligence - Power BI Intern for our Capital Projects PMO Teams. The Intern will provide day-to-day application support of 3rd party/ERP business applications and leverage technical solutions to meet organizational needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to analyze and organize data and create engaging and informative dashboards in Power BI and reports in various forms. They will work closely with all internal teams to understand business needs and enjoy providing excellent internal support services.
This position will interface with project team leadership and stakeholders to coordinate Business Intelligence and Project Reporting functions in support of Transmission and Distribution scopes of work. The role will provide an opportunity to understand and develop solutions to meet Project Management needs and Client requirements for the successful execution of projects.
The Power BI Intern will:
- Design and develop BI Dashboards using Microsoft Power BI technologies including SQL Server, Azure, Excel, SharePoint, etc.
- Automate and maintain ongoing metrics, dashboards, published reports, and underlying detailed data tables
- Design data gathering strategies to aid dashboard creation using SharePoint, Teams, Excel, etc.
- Effectively communicate with key stakeholders at all the levels to ensure their engagement and support of business improvement activities
- Continuously seek feedback for improvements and maintain a proactive approach to find value-added solutions
- Integrate into the S&L and Client Project Management Organization as an active team player, with the flexibility to adapt to new working environments
- There is the potential for you to travel to client offices or site locations, as required
Essential skills and experience:
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a technical area and currently pursuing a master's degree with a strong academic background, preferably with an emphasis in Data Analytics, Management Information Systems
- 1+ years of experience with data analysis and visualization using Power BI
- Proficient with DAX, Power Query, and excel skills for data extraction and analysis
- Ability to develop charts matrix, with drill-downs and complex designs
- Comfortable working with RDBMS, large datasets: merging, appending, pivoting, grouping, etc.
- Good communication, project management, and documentation skills
- High motivation and results-oriented work ethics
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- Experience creating, maintaining, and extracting data from SharePoint lists and libraries
- Experience with an SAP preferred, working with tables loaded into Azure database
- Familiarity with scheduling software, preferably Primavera P6
- Familiarity with finance and accounting systems
