Job description

The Director Business Development will manage daily tasks required to pursue and win project award for EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) services on utility-scale solar projects across the U.S. with new and repeat Clients. Director Business Development is expected to lead all aspects of Business Development pursuit management from initial GRIDWORKS response through initial contract execution (typically Limited Notice to Proceed), with support from Business Development team and internal and partner Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) as needed.
Position can be based at the Albuquerque office. Hybrid or remote opportunities also available.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Liaise closely with Business Development team to coordinate GRIDWORKS pursuit of project Opportunities.
  • Lead multiple internal and client calls daily.
  • Assist in Business Development “Go/No-Go” decision, review incoming RFPs (Requests For Proposal) and ability to understand and summarize key Opportunity parameters in succinct and accurate fashion (i.e. Client Name, Project Location, MW Capacity, Interconnection Voltage, COD deadline, RFP deadline etc.).
  • Create, update, and maintain Opportunity folders on shared network drive and Procore.
  • As assigned Business Development champion for a “Go” RFP, lead the Opportunity kick-off meeting, including summarizing of RFP parameters, site-specific information, GRIDWORKS deliverables, and respective team tasks and deadlines.
  • Collect RFIs (Request for information) from Gridworks team members (including external partners) to submit to Client on a given “Go” RFP.
  • Notify Gridworks team (including external partners) of Client-issued project updates, RFI responses, addendum, etc.
  • Track assigned deliverables and follow-up with team members as needed to ensure a timely RFP response.
  • Provide update of status of each assigned RFP/pursuit for weekly team meetings.
  • Lead team in pricing reviews for assigned “Go” RFP via your familiarity with specifics of a given Opportunity (e.g. RFI log info., geotech/terrain concerns, unique Scope of Work stipulations, discussions with Client, etc.)
  • Maintain engagement (i.e. liaise with Gridworks Team & Client, as needed) between RFP Submittal and Operations handoff to PM Team after LNTP (Limited Notice to Proceed)
  • Schedule Gridworks team and Client meetings as needed/requested by Client.
  • Provide prompt and accurate responses to Client requests and queries during the Business Development phase, soliciting input from internal and partner SME’s as appropriate
  • Initiate review of key contract documents with Gridworks legal
  • Initiate preparation of Primavera 6 schedule from Scheduling Dept.
  • If selected by Client as the awarded EPC for “Go” RFP for which you are champion, prepare and lead the Business Development to Operations hand-off meeting
  • Additional duties and tasks may be assigned to support Business Development efforts.
  • Experience in utility-scale solar and BESS preferred
  • Understanding of utility-scale solar design and engineering principles preferred
  • Working knowledge of renewable energy subject matter (primarily utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems) preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required

  • Proficient with computer programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Bluebeam
  • Interest and ability to quickly learn new subject matter as required to perform tasks effectively
  • Understanding of renewable energy market forces
  • Understanding new Client acquisition principles in a professional service industry setting
  • Ability to interact with external and internal Clients professionally
  • Ability to prioritize and manage many tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to face and overcome new challenges seen in the course of work
  • Ability to work and interact with members of staff at various levels in the organization
  • Ability to quickly arrive at workable decisions and to adapt self to changing working conditions and priorities
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree preferred
