Purpose of Development Manager Role:

The Albuquerque Development Manager is responsible for fund development in Albuquerque and is an integral part of the organization achieving its significant income goals. The position focuses on cultivation and solicitation of prospects and increasing commitments from NDI New Mexico’s existing donor base. The Albuquerque Development Manager is part of NDI New Mexico’s administrative staff and reports to the Albuquerque Director of Development.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Fundraising

  • Highly motivated, goal-oriented approach to meeting individual and team fundraising goals.
    • Focused on meeting organization’s projected fundraising growth by individually raising:
      • $100K+ in first year
      • $165K+ in second year
      • $225K+ in third year
  • Individually cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of prospective and existing donors.
    • Manages a personal annual portfolio of approximately 100+ individual and corporate (as appropriate) prospects and donors.  Donor strategies include: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors via one-on-one meetings, telephone conversations, and written correspondence.
  • Meets fundraising growth goals by developing a prospect pipeline process through identification, research, and cultivation of potential donors/sponsors.
    • Quarterly identification of 20 individual or corporate prospects to qualify, cultivate, and solicit
  • Develops and sustains a network of broad local support through networking, attending special events, and building relationships with organizations and individuals who can support the work and strategic goals of NDI New Mexico.

 

Administrative and Financial

  • Utilizes organization’s donor database to manage personal portfolio, drive work, and capture outcomes.
    • Maintains current donor information and opportunities in Salesforce
    • Enters call reports weekly into Salesforce to track donor activity
  • Utilizes organization’s accounting platform to enter expenditures and request payments to vendors.
    • Enters cultivation and event related expenses into Sage accounting platform following organization’s chart of accounts.
  • Participates in monthly income and expense reconciliation.
    • Prepares and delivers monthly Contribute Income Report for Gala income goals to Advancement Team
    • Reviews monthly expense report for cultivation and event related expenses for accuracy and reports any discrepancies to finance and ABQ Director of Development
  • Acts as Support Staff for Albuquerque volunteer committees.
    • Duties to include creating and maintaining committee rosters, creating meeting calendars, preparing meeting space, and taking minutes/meeting notes

 

Events

  • Plans and executes multiple donor cultivation and stewardship events annually including the Annual Gala
    • Secures venue, vendors, and permitting for 2+ Founders Circle Receptions annually (100-125 attendees), pre-gala VIP reception (50-70 attendees), and Annual Gala (400-450 attendees)
    • Manages event communication schedule including invitation creation with Marketing Team and invitation list vetting and mailing with Development Team
    • Assigns staffing roles for each event to Advancement Team and other departments as required
    • Coordinates with Artistic Department on performance needs for each event

  • Other duties as required.

 

Working Conditions, Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Performs his or her functions in a variety of environments including:  NDI New Mexico offices, Albuquerque and Santa Fe schools, residency sites and other locations such as donor homes and event venues.
  • Requires reimbursable in-state travel to NDI New Mexico locations, participating schools and residency sites.
  • Requires some weekend and evening hours.
  • May be required to lift up to 15 lbs.
  • May be required to navigate stairs.
Qualifications

Job Specific Requirements:

  • College degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in direct donor solicitation or sales with corresponding metrics.
  • Strong organizational, computer skills including donor database and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to be versatile and flexible in a rapidly changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency, meeting deadlines and benchmarks.
  • Willingness to assist with whatever needs to get done for the success of the organization including weekly donor visits and networking/cultivation events outside the office, trips to Santa Fe, and other support duties as necessary.
