A Business Development Coordinator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Economic Development Department. The Economic Development Department is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to assist with the implementation of programs and projects focused on target industry positioning and readiness, business attraction and expansion, and other strategic development, programs, and initiatives.
The Economic Development Department conducts targeted operations and facilitates strategic investments that engage public, private, and civic assets in ways that help shape the future of the community and its economy. This is primarily accomplished through policies, programs, and public-private partnerships that are focused on: Ensuring that a strong foundation has been established for the local economy, tapping into the full potential of neighborhoods and districts throughout the city, and securing growth in strategic industries and entrepreneurial activity.

The incumbent is responsible for implementing strategies that increase Fort Worth's competitiveness in certain target industries as identified in the Economic Development Strategic Plan. Primary duties will include identifying and leading projects that deliver value and elevate the profile of Fort Worth, particularly in high-growth and high-value industries; monitoring industry trends; evaluating, leveraging, and building on local and regional assets; engaging in efforts to attract new investment and businesses into the community; supporting the competitiveness of existing businesses and industry clusters; and supporting talent initiatives in coordination with partner organizations.

The Business Development Coordinator job responsibilities include:
- Assist in the creation and implementation of programs to encourage the attraction and expansion of new and existing employers within the community.
- Evaluate target industry trends and requirements and create tailored profile and positioning documents of the Fort Worth market.
- Inventory key Fort Worth sites and evaluate site availability, conditions, and readiness;
- Actively engage with existing businesses on growth and expansion opportunities; Attract new businesses to Fort Worth.
- Establish relationships with local, regional, and national site consultants, corporate real estate executives and real estate brokers.
- Manage relationships with accounts in assigned target industries.
- Conduct project analysis, negotiate terms of incentive contracts, and coordinate approval process.
- Identify and evaluate new or competing policies, programs, and incentives and advise department management on related local policy.
- Represent the City in meetings with representatives of business and community organizations, governmental agencies and the public.
- Prepare a variety of periodic, progress and special reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or Political Science
- Four (4) years of corporate/commercial real estate, business attraction, economic development, or corporate consulting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree
- A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation, Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) designation or a certificate from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute (OUEDI), or a certificate from the TCU Advanced Economic Development Leadership (AEDL) program;
- More than seven years of relatable experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office products necessary;
- Experience with Salesforce
- Knowledge of incentive policies, programs and projects
- Experience in economics, including concepts, terms, methods, and trends (as well as statistical analysis);
- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of economic development, marketing, and financing methods available for economic growth
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently;
- Strong financial analysis skills (demonstrated ability to evaluate gap financing or conduct financial benchmarking, fiscal analysis, or cost-benefit analysis);
- Established track record or strong capabilities in negotiating high-value/high-profile projects, especially industrial, corporate, or other commercial expansions, or relocations;
- A history of ethical behavior and an understanding of various ethical considerations in economic development.
