Role Description:
The Business Analyst works under general supervision to support the implementation and enhancement of software products for new and existing clients. Supports the project team to ensure that technology solutions completely and accurately resolve the needs and objectives of the business. Assists in identifying and documenting business requirements and verifying quality assurance of the delivered product.
Responsibilities:
- Achieves expertise in the product and gains industry knowledge
- Understands and adheres to internal methodologies, processes and procedures
- Learns business modeling, requirements analysis and design principles of an iterative software development life cycle
- Conducts collaborative application requirements sessions with the client's business users and demonstrates an understanding of their objectives and goals
- Develops and produces project deliverables such as requirements specifications, test plans, and guides
- Assists in functional testing and/or user acceptance testing as needed
- Troubleshoots and analyzes client reported issues and defects
- Participates in internal design and review sessions to gain knowledge of technical system implementation principles and practices
- Supports the project management team in proactively identifying and communicating issues in scope or opportunities for work
Years of Experience:
- 1-3 years of business analysis experience in the ' Compensation industry and/or equivalent experience with other policy, claims or billing applications.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently within a team environment
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be systems-oriented, enjoy learning new products and tools, and be a self-motivated learner
- Willingness to follow verbal or written instructions
- Must be comfortable with working with system developers and testers to explain and verify requirements
- Learn basic technical skills for implementing product configuration or problem analysis
- Exhibit good judgment when solving problems in assessing which decisions are within personal scope and which must be referred to supervisor or manager
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Education/Certifications/Training:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, computer science and/or related field desired. Equivalent work experience may be substituted.
Physical Conditions/Requirements:
- Ability to hear and communicate clearly, orally and in writing
- Uses vision to view screens, create and review documents; requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Capable of using a keyboard effectively
- Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand and walk
- May require the ability to drive a vehicle
- Travel: Requires up to 50% travel based on client needs. Must be available for travel and on-site work at the customer site. Flexibility with regard to availability for travel, based on project and customer requirements, will be necessary.
