TITLE:Bus Monitor
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or valid G.E.D.
2. Minimum of three years experience or related knowledge necessary to perform the duties of this position.
3. First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
4. Knowledge of MIPS desirable.
5. Must be able to perform physical activities, including but not limited to, lifting, moving or carrying (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, or walking.
6. Able to communicate effectively with children and adults

REPORTS TO: Transportations Director
JOB GOALS: To work with the school bus driver in the safe transportationof students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures students are belted and secured in their proper placement on the bus.
2. Checks conditions of all wheel chair straps and knows how to properly secure a wheel chair in bus.
3. Provides visual scan for all students on the bus and sits in the area of students who are medically fragile.
4. Provides support to children in the following appropriate behavior on the bus using positive behavioral supports.
5. Assists studentson/off bus, always escourts students across street.
6. Works with special education teachers to provide interventions when needed.
7. Ensures student safety during emergency evacuation procedures.
8. Performs work in a safe and orderly manner while maintaining a neat and clean work area.
9. Maintains a written plan of action and transportation, medical card for each student's medical concerns.
10. All of duties as may be assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month year. Hourly rate and workdays to be established by the Board approved schedules.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
