Job Summary
The Bus Stop Monitor is responsible for monitoring the school Bus Stop locations. The incumbent ensures safe conduct for children crossing the streets, supervises children while waiting for the bus to arrive, and ensures the Bus Stop is presents a safe environment for children.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensures safety of children at Bus Stop and crossing streets at specific locations.
2. Instruct children in proper procedures for safe street crossing.
3. Interrupts traffic and escorts pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safely.
4. Reports safety concerns to appropriate Tribal departments, i.e. Law Enforcement.
5. Reports students who do not adhere to Safe Street crossing procedures to appropriate school officials.
6. Places and removes portable signs at designated locations in compliance with contracted times of operation.
7. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:

• Using a two-way radio;
• Basic traffic safety rules;
• Basic Safe driving rules and procedures;
• Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.

Skills and Abilities:

• Working with children;
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
• Stand for extended periods of time;
• Stoop, bend, walk, and reach object above shoulder height;
• Lift a maximum of 50lbs;
• Work well with children and their parents;
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public, and other public agencies;
• Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.

Education, Certifications and Experience Required
No specific education or experience required.
AND

• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;

Special Requirements

• Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
