Big Bear Mountain Resort is located in the San Bernardino National Forest, approximately 100 miles from Los Angeles and Orange County and 150 miles from San Diego. POSITION SUMMARY
Provides leadership and assistance inside and outside, preparing walls, buildings, and other structures, and applying paint, stain, and coatings.
Starting wage between $32.00/hr. - $41.44/hr. depending on experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years old
  • Have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) with mastery in the painting trade
  • Must be a self-driven, efficient and productive performer, who safeguards company policies and procedures so as to create a safe work environment
  • An expert communicator who demonstrates respect through service and collaboration to other managers, employees, and guests
  • Must be able to pass Company certifications to operate equipment
  • Able to read, understand, comply with, and write documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to record data accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Able to work flexible schedules, including second and third shifts, as well as weekends and holidays

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Follow all Company and Department Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in and/or lead training and safety meetings, as well as exhibit the application and retention of all material presented.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions; as well as further develop professional skills, abilities, and knowledge.
  • Exhibit willingness to perform other duties as assigned or assist in efforts outside of department as needed.
  • A calm and collective demeanor during challenging operations, using sound reasoning and making competent decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, browser-based research tools, Workday, UKG, and SharePoint.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations.
  • Read work orders; perform detailed inspections, troubleshoot problems, and maintain related equipment; and complete tasks as assigned in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Constantly tests the efficiency of operations and creates policies and training opportunities for subordinates, especially on the safe use of paints, chemicals, and supplies.
  • Schedule and direct the timely completion of all painting projects.
  • Ensure that surfaces are prepared: scrapped, sanded, washed, holes repaired, and/or old paint removed; as well as the area is taped, covered, and protected with cloth/plastic.
  • Manage the inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of power equipment and hand tools; scrappers, knifes, sanders, high pressure washers, spray guns, etc.
  • Direct all mixing, matching, and application of paints and finishes to various surfaces.
  • Schedule and manage the move of furniture, equipment, and fixtures to reach the entire surface of the project.
  • Direct clean-up of supplies, furniture, equipment, and fixtures when project is complete.
  • Ensure the safe use of ladders, scaffolding, movable and immovable staging, and various rigging.
  • The authority on determining the type and amounts of material to use, and the time required for each project.
  • Ensure that regular safety checks occur throughout the facility to confirm a safe and clean environment for the patrons of the facility and to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Manages the department to attract, retain, and motivate the team: hire, train, develop, empower, coach, counsel, review, resolve problems, and discipline when necessary.
  • Assist Director with managing budget.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental strain and fatigue may occasionally be caused by trying to resolve tenant issues, meeting deadlines, and balancing the wants and needs of the departmental staff. Handling emergency situations and working in adverse weather conditions may cause additional mental strain. Physical hazards include walking up and down steep stairways or driving on surfaces that may be wet/frozen and slippery, as well as exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, mists and gases. Physical strain may also be caused by lifting or movement of heavy objects, as well as repetitive fine motor activities.
