This position is responsible for technical and administrative work for the Building Department, serving as the first point of contact and primary permit counter contact. This position also serves as a back-up to the City Hall front desk position.
Be the first point to contact to assist customers, contractors, City staff, and the public with permits and other building and code enforcement needs and refer to others as appropriate.
Review plans for compliance with city ordinances, state codes and regulations.
Schedule inspections.
Provide accurate documents, reports, and Certifications for Occupancy for required approval of permits.
Assist with zoning permits and code enforcement as required.
Research records to provide public with site-specific property information such as Building Permits, construction plans, certificates of occupancy, zoning and surveys or site plans.
Maintain all Building Permit records and reports.
Update Building Permit/inspection software database, including state and city licensed contractors, permit payment information, new parcel information for all new developments or lot splits and updating parcel information.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for various City, State, Federal and other agencies as required.
Perform special projects as assigned.
Provide backup customer service and clerical support for the front desk administrative position.
Training and Experience
High school diploma, up to 1 year of specialized or technical, clerical training and 5 years of clerical, computer and customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties listed above.
