Minimum of 10-20 hours/week (hybrid of in-office/remote) during spring semester and full-time in summer.
Iconergy is a growing energy efficiency and sustainability company comprised of experienced energy engineering and design/build professionals who have come together through their shared commitment to excellence in program and project management as well as technical skills and delivery.
Iconergy is seeking an intern to support our Building Commissioning projects, however there may be opportunities to support other energy engineering projects including data analysis/data logging/data trending, computer programming, energy audits, design-build retrofit projects, and other types of commercial and industrial facility energy management and energy efficiency analyses. Building commissioning is a process to ensure building components and systems meet the owner's intent. We achieve this by partnering with building owners, contractors and designers to execute and document reviews, inspections and performance tests of building systems during new construction and major renovation projects. We apply our knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, controls, circuits, HVAC, and other topics to solve complex problems.
These projects will range in size and complexity while balancing internal project deadlines, client needs, and Iconergy's Project Managers' needs. Iconergy interns may provide some energy engineering solutions independently but will be more frequently called upon to collaborate with and support both colleagues and clients. This position is in-person in our Boulder office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Student seeking part-time internship for start of the Spring 2024 school year, full-time for Summer of 2024, and part-time opportunities throughout the subsequent school year.
- Student at the sophomore or higher level, working towards an engineering degree.
- Applicable engineering degrees include mechanical, architectural, computer science building/energy systems, environmental, electrical, and civil.
- Non-engineering students may also be qualified via alternative academic degrees (e.g. physics, applied mathematics), work experience (e.g. programmer), etc.
- Demonstrated experience with analysis of field data and/or statistical.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and oral) and organizational.
- Moderate-to-advanced skills in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Experience with HVAC, controls, or energy or water efficiency a plus.
- Willingness to travel to construction projects throughout the Denver metro area, Colorado and Wyoming. Overnight travel is a possibility during Summer (historically <20%).
- Must have access to reliable personal transportation for travel to our office in Boulder.
Iconergy is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. We encourage applications from all demographics and especially those that are traditionally under-represented in engineering and construction.
