Job Summary
This position will provide custodial support for The University of Texas at Tyler campus. Duties will include general cleaning, dusting, vacuuming carpet, picking up trash, responding to emergencies within building, maintaining custodial closet and providing custodial support for events.
This posting is to build a pool of applicants to fill Building Attendant I positions as they become available.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
- Cleans offices, classrooms, lecture halls, restrooms and other designated areas as assigned.
- Cleans toilets, urinals, windows, furnishings, lighting fixtures, sweeps, and dusts. Cleans and disinfects a variety of surfaces.
- Dispose of trash and recycling.
- Provide custodial support for campus events.
- Maintains well-stocked and organized supply closet and cart.
- Participates in emergency response situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of custodial experience.
- Three (3) years of custodial experience in an educational setting preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in written form.
- Ability to use all cleaning tools provided.
Competency with electronic databases for time entry. - Ability to effectively and efficiently clean and maintain an assigned area within a predetermined time schedule.

Additional Information
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
