Position Information

Performs departmental budget analysis and attendant management analysis work; prepares reports on studies conducted with recommendations; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancies:
There are two (2) vacancies with the Department of Budget & Fiscal Services, Budgetary Administration Division. Under the general direction of the branch chief and with broad discretion and independent judgment, performs complex budget analysis and attendant studies of large and complex agencies of the City; prepares reports on studies conducted; assists in implementation of recommendations; conducts comprehensive budget related studies; may serve as team leader on special projects or studies; participates with the Mayor, Managing Director, Director of Budget and Fiscal Services and departmental officials in meetings on budget and other related matters.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public or Business Administration, Economics or a related field.


Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your education in order to be given credit. Please attach an electronic copy of your diploma and/or official transcript which shows the embossed seal or applicable FCE to your application. Work experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional (i.e., post-bachelor's degree, non-clerical) analytical experience in evaluating the effectiveness of operating programs in relation to organizational objectives.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of budget analysis and management analysis; research techniques and methods; and the ability to gather and analyze operational, statistical and financial data; apply budget analysis and management analysis principles, policies and procedures; present facts clearly both orally and in writing; and maintain effective working relationships.
SUBSTITUTION: A Master's degree in Business Administration or Public Administration from a regionally-accredited college/university will substitute for six (6) months of the required two years of progressively responsible professional analytical experience in evaluating the effectiveness of operating programs in relation to organizational objectives.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
