POSITION SUMMARY
The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is seeking to hire a professional and creative individual to serve as communications systems specialist (Broadcast Engineer) for the Illinois Office of Communication & Information. This position serves as an engineer to plan, design, and recommend the installation and operation of satellite, video, and audio equipment, and to provide support for video productions. The engineer aids videographers in the field to distribute audio/video from news conferences and State sponsored events throughout Illinois via satellite uplink transmissions and livestreaming on the internet. The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of maintaining High-Definition broadcast standards and evolving broadcast technology in a dynamic environment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of college with major coursework in electronic engineering, radio/television, telecommunications, or data processing.
  • Requires four years of professional experience in communications systems designs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience (or equivalent college broadcasting experience) working with the Ku-Band Satellite Uplink/Downlink program and using equipment to livestream video to internet and social media.
  • Prefers two (2) years of professional experience providing technical advice and assistance in audio and video productions.
  • Prefers working knowledge of the tools required to perform technical repairs and maintenance of various electronic audio and video equipment.
  • Prefers working knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and operation of satellite, and audio/video equipment such as broadcast consoles and mixing systems, digital playback/automation systems, data/voice networks, and structured cabling.
  • Prefers working knowledge of software products such as Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and operating systems such as MAC OS, and Microsoft Windows

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This position requires the applicant to pass a background check.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • This position requires the use of an agency supplied material/equipment (i.e., mobile phone, laptop, etc.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and assists with lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • This position requires a working knowledge of various computer software applications such as Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
