Buoy Beer Company is seeking a Full-time Brewer (~30 – 40 hrs p/w) to take ownership and pride in creating amazing beers, including our traditionally made European lagers and NW inspired ales. We’re a hard-working and growing operation and are looking for the right person to grow with us. The ideal candidate will be flexible, open to learning, a team player, and takes ownership of their work. You will work with our entire Production team to brew beers for distribution throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
Along with knowing your way around a brewery, fitting in with our team and town are the most important aspects to us. You should be able to enjoy life with us, but also work hard in what has been a constantly evolving venture, which also includes our Craft Distillery, Pilot House Distilling and our distributor in WA, River Barrel Distributing.
Job Duties:
- Brewing and Cellaring duties on our 4 vessel 50bbl system
- Raw ingredient handling, transferring wort/beer, yeast handling, monitoring fermentations, etc.
- Operate brewhouse with great attention to detail and accuracy (milling, mashing, lautering, proper gravities, etc.)
- Yeast management, which includes harvesting and pitching
- CIP and Sanitization on all vessels (brewhouse, fermenters, and bright tanks)
- Assist with running our barrel program and potential cross-over with our distillery
- Partake in our on-site wastewater management process
- Support packaging team duties (kegging, in-house canning line, bottling)
- Jump in and assist the warehouse team as needed
- Collaborate and assist the QA/QC team
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- 2+ years of professional brewing experience and/or related degree a must
- Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow SOP’s and other requirements
- Put safety first; for yourself and your team members
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with a diverse team of people
- Brewing is a physical job - Able to lift 55 lbs. repeatedly, bend, work in tight places and in elevated spaces.
- Prepared to work in various climates and conditions, in- and outdoors (wet, windy, hot, smelly…)
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Experience with Orchestrated Beer (OBeer) software or similar brewing software is a plus
- Take pride in our sustainable practices (recycling, waste reduction, etc.)
