Primary Function

Supervises the activities of assigned branch associates to assure attainment of goals and objectives. Manages branch performance to assure alignment with all policies, practices, and culture of the company. Partners with branch team for tactical plan development, identifying and capitalizing on market growth opportunities, professional development of branch team, and ensure appropriate communication flow. Develops and implements plans for market growth within assigned branch territory.

 

Essential Functions

Financial Management

  • Develops, communicates, implements, and manages annual branch business plans including market forecasting for sales, operations, and expenses.
  • Reviews, analyzes, facilitates, and assures appropriate action plans to assure all financial performance measures are met or exceeded.

Sales & Territory Management

  • Oversees branch sales team’s efforts targeting, cultivating, and securing business opportunities of key customers and identified potential customers. Supports partnerships with Strategic Business Unit for opportunities involving strategic accounts and/or strategic product lines.
  • Collaborates with marketing, sales leadership, and the branch staff to administer company marketing, advertising and product promotion programs and initiatives in the assigned branch territory.
  • Leads the branch sales team in evaluating, analyzing, and developing responses to market opportunities and challenges.
  • Recommends sales strategies for profit growth based on market research and competitor analyses.

Customer Relations

  • Develops and maintains high level relationships with customers, vendors, community leaders, and branch staff.
  • Guides branch staff with problem and complaint resolution.

Strategic & Tactical Planning

  • Directs and guides branch(es) in the development of tactical plans in alignment with stated company direction. Assures implementation and correction of tactical plans, as needed.
  • Communicates Springfield Electric’s vision and values. Enforces the highest standards for customer service excellence, operating excellence, and ethics.
  • Develops, communicates, implements, and manages annual branch business plans including market forecasting for sales, operations, and expenses.
  • Recommends sales strategies for profit growth based on market research and competitor analyses.

Compliance

  • Ensures Springfield Electric operational procedures are implemented and correctly executed in assigned branch(es).
  • Communicates Springfield Electric’s vision and values. Enforces the highest standards for customer service excellence, operating excellence, and ethics.
  • Ensures branch practices are conducted in compliance with governing federal and state employment safety regulations.

Team Leadership

  • Assures appropriate staffing levels to achieve stated financial and productivity objectives.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, motivates, and mentors branch associates. Recommend staffing changes to Regional Manager.
  • Develops and manages succession plans for key branch associates.
  • Directs and coordinates warehouse and administrative functions to assure that they efficiently and effectively provide services required in a manner that promotes quality customer service.
  • Develops direct staff through training and performance management initiatives.
  • Participates in recruitment and selection processes as necessary.

Operations Oversight

  • Manages the movement of products into and out of inventory. Approves all modifications to inventory. Coordinates inventory audit process.
  • Oversees the coordination of inventory preparation and warehouse cleanliness in conjunction with the warehouse manager.
  • Coordinates cycle inventory counts with RF system.
  • Coordinates vendor returns.
  • Coordinates product displays and promotional materials in the counter sales area.

Communication

  • Maintains continuous line of communication with reporting manager and assures challenges and concerns are addressed immediately.
  • Monitors and responds to all means of communication (phone calls, electronic messaging, etc) in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Uses appropriate forms of written communication both internally & externally.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of required software applications and utilizes software for appropriate means of communication.

Safety & Compliance

  • Responsible for overall branch facility security and building management. Coordinates facility maintenance and repair activity as necessary.
  • Oversees the coordination of branch safety related activities & ensures branch’s compliance with all related regulatory guidelines and requirements.
  • Reports accidents in a timely manner & conducts the appropriate accident investigation process and follows up with associate in accordance with guidance provided by Corporate Human Resources.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintains a high level of product knowledge.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Provides back-up for Counter Sales, warehouse and administrative associates as needed.
  • Performs other duties assigned for workload balance and/or skill development.
  • Performs other duties as instructed or required to successfully complete the job.

Necessary Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Management, Sales and Marketing or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and job experience as determined by Springfield Electric.
  • Minimum of three years in the electrical distribution industry with progressively responsible sales and/or management or leadership experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in business or operations management including the application of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, forecasting, human resources, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources, preferably in the electrical distribution industry.
  • Extensive product knowledge might be exhibited by attainment of EPEC Gold Level certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems at strategic, tactical, and functional levels.
  • Demonstrated customer and vendor relationship building and maintenance skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills, including the ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proven attentiveness to detail coupled with problem analysis and resolution skills.
  • Proven proficiency in general personal computer application, as well as in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel.
  • A valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record.

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Demonstrated ability to develop tactical plans to be implemented over a 1 – 2-year time span.
  • Strong knowledge or experience with SESCO’s operating system.

 

Physical Ability Requirements

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to utilize a computer keyboard, computer monitor, adding machine, and telephone for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally climb a ladder and step stool.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and otherwise transport work-related materials that frequently weigh up to 40 lbs. and that may occasionally weigh in excess of 40 lbs.
