People participate in imaginative experiences, including makeovers, special events, and whimsical birthday parties.
The Bowfish Studios Manager + Lead Stylist is responsible for managing parties and events and supporting the director in the Bowfish Studios vertical. They work directly with our studio director to help across all business areas. Their primary job objective is to coordinate all party communication and preparation. The secondary job objective is as our Lead Imagination Stylist and performing services for our clients. They get an opportunity to touch every aspect of our business and get a one-on-one time directly with our customers.
Location + Schedule:
- Ocean City, NJ
- Tuesday through Saturday.
- Flexibility of schedule during the off-season.
- During the months of June-September, must have the ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including nights, weekends, holidays, when necessary, and maybe in addition to my normal expected duties and hours.
What’s expected:
- 40hrs/wk average
- Additional required sale + event days: events, block parties, holidays, sale days, and staff training.
- Key-holder Responsibilities
- Cover entire shifts as needed.
- Maintain phone management
What we offer:
- Base Salary: $41,300/yr
- 401k, 3% match after 1 year of employment: $1,239
- Cell phone reimbursement: $2,400/yr .
- Medical Benefits: HSA account $3,600/yr after 6 months of employment if applicable
- 21 days - paid time off
- Cannot be taken during required sale + event days, and is limited to 2 consecutive days during the months of June-August. Exceptions must be cleared in advance by the director.
- 12.5 federal holidays earned paid time off. Schedule subject to holiday needs.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead Bowfish Studio’s Stylist
- Bring imaginations to life with our makeover experiences.
- Responsible for performing all our makeovers, parties, and events offered in our salon.
- Makeovers include performing hair braiding/styling, face painting, nail painting, and glitter.
- Parties include performing makeovers, leading social games, & guiding children through crafts/activities
- Responsible for providing a “magical” atmosphere by engaging with customers and engaging with their imaginations through questions and conversation.
- Create positive impressions within our team and customers by bringing your best self to work through a personal style and charisma.
- Understand and emulate the Bowfish Studio’s Standards for appearance and etiquette.
- Perform “Certified Services” Stylist services:
- PERMANENT JEWELRY: support our customers in finding the perfect piece of jewelry and permanent welding the jewelry to desired fit
- EAR PIERCINGS: support and perform ear piercing appointments (ages 3+)
2. Party + Event Manager
- Concept Development and Logistics
- Work with Studios Director to design and develop unique, high-quality experiences within our brand & ethics
- Manage primary logistics of all sold events and birthday parties, including third-party vendors (hired characters, partnerships, etc.), marketing, billing, invoicing, space prep as needed etc.
- Attend and execute all events alongside the director.
- Customer Service
- Communicate with customers via phone, email, & social media to answer questions about our parties & services.
- Book & coordinate planned birthday parties. This can include sending invitations, discussing upgrade options with the parents, and ensuring all customer needs are cared for.
- Answer phone calls & book appointments using our reservation system.
- Staff Management + Support
- Support Studios Director with party and event staff management and scheduling. Help to ensure all scheduling is accurate and fits the needs of all upcoming events, parties, and appointments.
- Uphold brand standards for services and oversee stylist staff for quality assurance.
- Communication with outside vendors and partners for event details, logistics, and payment
- Support in monthly community outreach events.
3. Marketing + Manufacturing Assistant
- Develop, create, and plan promotional materials for events and parties.
- Scheduling and releasing event materials on Facebook, Instagram, & email.
- Collaborate and work closely with the Bowfish Studios Director in executing and expanding our marketing presence.
- Maintain and manage social media presence on Instagram and TikTok.
- Take and edit photos for promotional materials and potential content. (Opportunities for further growth and learning if this is an area of interest)
- Support in the production of our Bowfish Studios product line and help collaborate on expansion of line.
4. Building Cleaning + Management
- Weekly cleaning schedule, 3-5hours per week
- General dusting of mid-level surfaces
- High and low dusting on rotation
- Clean and disinfect 3 half bathrooms, sink and toilet
- Wipe clear surfaces
- Wipe clean kitchen
- Load the dishwasher if needed.
- Vacuum all floors
- Mop all floors
5. Admin team responsibilities
- Maintain communication via teams and outlook inboxes daily.
- Maintain studios phone line to ensure customer calls are answered tuesday-saturday.
- Maintain inbox organization of filing emails and keeping a clean inbox.
- Actively prevent hacks by consistently reporting spam and malicious emails.
- Maintain organization of sharepoint and backend file systems.
- Updating “docs” as you use them to keep information current across our teams.
- Maintain organization of Canva files and projects.
- Maintain organization of Bowfish office space and participate in scheduled rotating cleaning schedules.
What's Required:
- Participate and complete our full multi-day training where you will learn about services and stylist etiquette.
- High school diploma or equivalent; or in pursuit of a college degree preferred.
- Must reside locally or be willing to relocate to the local store area.
- Must provide 2 references from previous employment.
- NDA agreement restricting the release or sharing of information owned by Bowfish such as trade secrets, financials, and other sensitive Bowfish assets.
