Are you a dynamic and bilingual educator passionate about fostering a love for science and math in young students? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Bilingual (Spanish and English) Science Teacher to join our team for the 2023/2024 school year in Park City, UT.
Position: Bilingual (Spanish and English) Science Teacher
Grade Levels: 1st Grade and 2nd Grade
Time Commitment:
- Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM - 3:40 PM
- Twice a month Staff Meeting on Wednesdays, 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM
Teaching Model:
The teaching model will follow the Utah DLI (Dual Language Immersion) model, with two sessions each day (AM and PM) to accommodate a total of approximately 40+ students. The same content will be taught in both the morning and afternoon sessions.
Subjects Expected to Teach:
- 1st Grade: Math, Science, and Vocabulary (taught in Spanish)
- 2nd Grade: Math, Science, and Vocabulary (taught in Spanish)
Responsibilities:
As the Bilingual Science Teacher, you will play a key role in providing a stimulating and engaging learning experience for your students in Spanish. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering math and science state standards in Spanish to students.
- Preparing and organizing teaching materials and resources in both languages.
- Participating in weekly grade level PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) during special periods.
- Preparing report cards to communicate students' progress to parents/guardians.
- Collaborating with stakeholders on campus, including interventionists and special education staff.
- Administering benchmark district assessments and progress monitoring to track students' growth.
- Being open to training and coaching to enhance your effectiveness in these responsibilities.
Requirements:
- Bilingual proficiency in both Spanish and English.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching license or certification.
- Prior experience teaching math and science in Spanish, preferably in the DLI model.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
