2024 - 2025 School Year 1.0 FTE This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 03/21/2024. This is a Leave Replacement (One Year Only) Position Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:Medical, dental, vision, basic long-term disability, basic life and AD&D insurance through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB).

Summary Statement:This position requires a Spanish proficiency test. Applicants who successfully pass the Spanish proficiency exam score at the Advanced-mid or higher. EPS uses the ACTFL language rubrics in speaking and writing to interpret and verify assessment results.

Any candidate with a recent Spanish proficiency test score from a recognized agency (within one year) can submit those scores in lieu of testing. It is strongly recommended that applicants applying for this position hold a Bilingual and/or EL endorsement and have knowledge/understanding and/or experience with Dual Language Education. This certificated position supports the continuum of dual language courses at the high school level.

Mathematics is taught 100% in Spanish. Essential Functions:Ability to:Collaborate in the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of the District's K-12 Spanish Dual Language Program.Teach knowledge and skills in mathematics to secondary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved curriculum.Create and implement an effective, high-quality, rigorous program that builds bi-literacy skills and multi-cultural appreciation via a variety of instructional techniques. Understand the core purpose of the dual language program and research behind the program's effectiveness; is familiar with or willing to acquire knowledge of dual language educational models and curriculum.

Use Common Core State Standards (CCSS), WIDA Spanish language Standards and/or Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to plan and provide effective, differentiated instruction using research-based practices.Incorporate linguistically and culturally responsive instructional practices in order to meet the needs of the student's individual academic, linguistic & socio-cultural needs and makes accommodations when necessary. Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, whiteboards, manipulatives, technology and other standard or teacher prepared instructional aids.Use instructional technology in delivery of curriculum and reporting student progress.Evaluate each student's performance and growth in language, math knowledge and understanding utilizing district and curricular assessments and prepares progress reports.Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive, and safe environment for learning.Engage in ongoing professional development as part of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) in which issues related to implementing effective content instruction are considered, current research on effective practice is read and discussed, student work and data are reviewed to inform instruction, and engaging lessons are plannedEngage in instructional coaching; willingness to be coachedTeach assigned content in Spanish with a high degree of skill across all language domains. Work cooperatively with students and their families who are culturally, racially, linguistically, and economically diverse to communicate about student progress.

Work effectively and cooperatively with teachers, community, administrators and support staff, including the Dual Language Department. Qualifications:Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)Bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English. Advanced-mid or higher fluency is required (both written and spoken); native Spanish speakers preferred.Prefer Bilingual and/or EL Endorsed applicants.

Multicultural Educator with cultural competency and ability to work comfortably in a diverse communitySuccessfully complete Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for the cost of the background check.Must have regular, consistent attendance.Must be willing to uphold District Policies and follow administrative procedures.Familiarity with or willingness to acquire knowledge of dual language models and curriculum.Experience working with Multilingual student population is preferred.Experience working with economically diverse or challenged populations is preferred.
