Overview:
Manages all accounting functions for Import Mex Distributors, LLC and related business entities. Maintains accurate books in records in accordance with US GAAP and Alex Lee accounting policies. Drives improvements in accounting technology, processes, and controls as well as supports the operations in analyzing costs and opportunities.
Responsibilities:
Supervises and is responsible for managing and developing staff within the accounts receivable, accounts payable, and treasury function at Import Mex Distributors, LLC and affiliated companies.
Provides guidance and support to the accounting function of acquired businesses or future growth within Import Mex Distributors, LLC.
Responsible for the monthly financial close process. Provides direction/development to other financial staff and oversees their timely, accurate, efficient preparation and presentment of financial and management reporting.
Directs the continuous improvement of the financial close process and the related systems to increase efficiencies in preparation and value-added components.
Reviews in detail and approves the financial statements. Approves journal entries and supervises the completion of the financial checklists and other controls as required by Alex Lee finance. Works with various levels of management and all departments and challenges company personnel as to accuracy and appropriateness of data included in the financial statements.
Review and ensure proper completion of reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
Works in close collaboration with all departments within MDI and with other Alex Lee Companies to assist management with needs assessments for additional financial information. Continually looks for ways to capture and provide meaningful data.
Understands and controls all the company's accounting and information systems to ensure accurate financial reporting. Identifies and leads corrections of internal control deficiencies.
Responsible for managing the external/internal audits, providing effective written communications addressing all audit recommendations/findings. Implements appropriate solutions or enhancements.
Leads in planning, organization, and execution of all financial/accounting and company-wide software implementations and upgrades.
Lead the design, implementation, maintenance, and oversight of internal controls.
Provide leadership in resolving interdepartmental conflicts regarding accounting issues.
Work with FP&A and other business partners to provide reports and analysis to management as needed to assist in the operation of the business and decision making.
Complete other tasks and special assignments as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish and English required
Skills and knowledge generally associated with a bachelor's degree and 5-7 years relevant experience in accounting
Experience working with wholesale and/ or retail operations preferred
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or Oracle ERP software preferred
Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Experience leading a team of at least 2 direct reports is a plus
Dimensions:
