WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the ongoing delivery of health, wellness, voluntary, and retirement benefits for the region. The role handles a wide variety of benefits interaction with employees, reporting and invoicing with carriers, data analysis, and work standardization. The role is responsible for understanding and applying legal compliance requirements for company benefit plans.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Oversee new hire enrollments in the benefit platform system, including updating and maintaining the system to ensure all employee information and documentation is accurate.
• Coordinate annual enrollment process, including communications/presentations, rate contributions, benefit platform storyboard, test eligibility, and confirmation statements.
• Build and leverage positive relationships for 20+ vendors/carriers to enhance program offerings and delivery with the objective of ensuring high levels of performance; implement new benefit programs as required.
• Reconcile and process vendor invoices and troubleshoot payment issues, utilizing the invoice processing system.
• Audit bi-weekly reports and data files to ensure 401(K) retirement plan contributions/loans, ERC contributions, and Health Savings Account contributions are correct.
• Track disability and leave of absence activity (STD, LTD, FMLA, State Leaves) and report status and pay instructions to HR managers and Payroll. Collect benefit premiums from extended leave cases.
• Troubleshoot various benefit and/or claims matters for employees and retirees.
• Coordinate ongoing wellness programs including annual wellness fair, monthly wellness newsletters, and activity-based programs.
• Coordinate with external vendors to ensure accurate and timely filing/distribution of IRS Forms 5500, 1095C, and 1095B.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports in response to requests from the broker, vendors, Finance, and HR staff.
• Administer service anniversary awards including communication to employees/managers and processing award payments and certificates.
• Prepare reports on claim payments, premium payments, eligibility, required benefit valuations for Finance and external vendors at both summary and detailed levels.
• Develop and maintain benefit-related procedures and provide support and training of HR staff.
• Understand and apply legal compliance requirements for company benefit plans, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 125, and IRC Section 79.
• Prepare and/or edit all required employee communications, including Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary Material Modifications, Summary Annual Reports, etc.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
• Associate degree required, bachelor degree preferred in one of the following, human resources, business administration, accounting or related field of study.
• 3 to 5 years in benefits administration, preferably with a multi-location and/or global company.
• Knowledge and experience on government compliance requirements (ACA, ERISA, Section 125, COBRA, HIPPA, retirement benefit limits) preferred.
• Excellent computer skills including (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
ADP and SuccessFactors system experience preferred.
• Strong execution orientation - getting work completed in a timely manner.
• Strong attention to details and accuracy
• Excellent communication and customer service skills needed to deal with all levels of management and external third parties.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing Microsoft Excel (e.g. spreadsheets, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables)
• Self-motivated to perform work and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize workload and multitask.
• Ability to adapt to high demand, changing working environment with competing priorities.
• Ability to think creatively when reviewing procedures.
• Ability to work independently in daily work and decision making, with minimal supervision.
• Ability to protect extremely confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to travel as required.
