Position Summary:
The Benefits Administration Associate is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of client benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, life, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending plan, HSA/HRA, 401(k) plan). Provide excellent customer service and quality benefit administration. Provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs. This entry-level position reports to the Benefits Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as primary contact for client regarding benefit administration issues;
- Work effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly;
- Investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations;
- Coordinate all information from Client Benefit Information sheets – plan documents, rates, census, match, balances, etc.;
- Prepare and coordinate client New Hire Packets (NHP’s);
- Oversee maintenance and updating of client benefit files and records;
- Provide customer service support to internal and external customers;
- Distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions;
- Coordinate benefit setup, deduction and compliance reporting issues with Information Systems, Human Resources, Payroll and Tax Compliance;
- Assist clients in understanding their benefits package and HR&P’s role in administering benefits;
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of administrative fees for all group plans;
- Coordinate annual renewal with all parties involved from start to finish;
- Process in a timely manner additions, terminations, changes, COBRA, 401(k) requests, 401(k) submissions, etc.;
- Work/communicate with other departments to keep the client satisfied.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Entry level but 1 to 2 years’ related benefits or employee benefit administration experience preferred;
- High School/GED;
- Excellent communication and organization skills are required;
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates;
- Capable of effective planning and priority setting;
- Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of Benefits Administration;
- Knowledge of benefit contract language;
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills;
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, and internal databases;
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills;
- Ability to maintain confidential information;
- Valid driver’s license.
