Community Youth Services is recruiting for Transitional Age Youth Therapist.  The Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Therapist is a dynamic part of a treatment team that serves youth between the ages of 15 up to 24. The TAY therapist provides co-occurring behavioral health services, supporting youth towards driving their own treatment. They work within a team to support youth and families in increasing tools and strategies as the youth prepares for adulthood.  Therapist provides individualized services and will offer a flexible schedule to meet the youth where they are at, this may include some response on nights and weekends. Therapist will be trained in evidence-based practices, responsible for assessments/ treatment planning, safety planning, and crisis stabilization. The TAY Therapist provides services to youth and families in a strength-based, solution-focused way that promotes and encourages supports for the youth.  They will utilize Managing and Adapting Practice (MAP) approach to encourage stabilization and youth-centered transition to independence. Therapist participates in a cohesive compassionate team to bridge gaps in communication and meet the needs of the youth served while building natural supports, promoting healthy boundaries, encouraging positive productive change, and inspiring hope.  CYS is currently providing telehealth and in-person services.

 

Starting pay is $6141 per hour/month.  (Exempt) (Fulltime).  This position will cover Mason County.

Position Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field plus two years experience providing home, community, and school-based clinical services.
  2. Requires the following Washington State credentials:
    • Mental Health Professional
    • Child Mental Health Specialist
    • 3.Requires one of the following licensures:
        • Licensed Mental Health Counselor
        • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
        • Licensed Psychologist
        • Licensed Social Worker
        • Licensed Mental Counselor Associate
        • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
        • Licensed Social Worker Associate
    1. Experience writing clinical assessments, documentation, case notes, as well as treatment, service and discharge plans.
    2. Experience working within multiple systems including Juvenile Justice, mental health, community and natural supports for families, schools, the Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS), etc.
    3. Experience and/or knowledge of cultural issues related to marginalized youth and young adults.
    4. Experience with and understanding of the legal system related to children and families including dependency orders, juvenile court procedures, and DCFS procedures.
    5. Must possess a high level of self-initiation, efficiency, organization skills and the ability to meet mandatory deadlines.
    6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office with the technical skills to efficiently use MS Word and Outlook, the internet and the intranet is also required.
    7. Ability to work a schedule with evenings and weekends appointments and to be on an on-call rotation schedule responding to clients’ crisises.

    Agency Qualifications:

    1. The ability to pass an extensive background check with no history of conviction or perpetration of child abuse or physical harm to a child or children or an individual aged 18 years and above who is or may be unable to take care of themselves or is unable to protect themselves against harm or exploitation by reason of age, illness, trauma or disability, or any other reason.
    2. Professional and personal conduct that maintains a personal and professional background so that criminal history remains free from unlawful conduct. Certain crimes may disqualify employees to have unrestricted access to children or vulnerable populations in accordance with Department of Social Health and Services policy and Washington State law. Professional or personal conduct that causes this clearance to be suspended or denied will result in suspension and/or termination of employment. (Pursuant to RCW 43.43.832, 43.43.832(7), 43.43.834, 43.20A.710 and WAC 388-06.).
    3. A valid Washington State Driver License with a minimum of five years’ driving experience and a three-year good driving record evidenced on a Washington driver’s abstract. The ability to pass and maintain a clean driving records check at employment and annually.  Professional or personal conduct that results in a restricted or denied driving status could result in termination of employment. (Candidates relocating to the area must provide current proof of three-year driving record from current state; and have ten days from date of employment to provide a copy of a Washington Driver’s License and Washington driver’s abstract.).
    4. Proof of personal auto insurance levels provided on your insurance declaration page. Coverage must be current, and copies provided to HR at renewal. Coverages at or above $100,000 combined single limit is required for positions that require driving and is recommended and preferred for positions that have occasional driving.
    5. A sensitivity and responsiveness to the cultural differences in the organization's employment and service population.
    1. Must possess or obtain within 30 days of employment CPR/1st Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen certification. Some positions require CPR before a first shift.
    2. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.

    Major Responsibilities and Related Tasks:

    1. Program Responsibilities
    2. Provides home, school and community-based therapy and support services to youth and their families utilizing the prescribed strategies that are adherent to “Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP)”.
    3. Maintains a caseload of 15-25 depending on caseload intensity.
    4. Maintains mandated data on each youth as prescribed by MAP, the Thurston Mason Regional Support Network and the University of Washington Evidence Based Practice Institute.
    5. Participates in meetings, supervision and consultation as required.
    6. Provides regular, and ongoing communication and care coordination. Works closely with integrated team that provides wraparound, peer counseling, and psychiatric services.
    7. Regularly tracks outcomes using MAP tools and analytical processes to adapt treatment interventions to ensure progress.
    8. Completes full intake, treatment plan, and any other required paperwork in a timely manner and in a way that meets all compliance requirements.
    9. Meets performance requirements around amount of time spent providing direct services.
    10. Assist participant’s Wraparound team in developing a sustainability plans as well as community and natural supports that will provide ongoing support when formalized TAY services have ended.

    Professional Development:

    1. Attends required staff meetings and contribute input on program and agency issues.
    2. Attend scheduled in-service training for on-going development of professional skills.
    3. Meets with supervisor on a monthly basis to review performance and SMART goals.

    Other Related Responsibilities

    1. Attends relevant trainings, conferences and department/ program staff meetings.
    2. Uses Agency or personal vehicle to perform agency business.
    3. Maintains confidential information.
    4. Participates as a flexible member of the agency team in order to accomplish the overall agency goals.
    5. Follows agency policies and procedures Code of Ethics, RCW’s, WAC’s, and other applicable external regulations.
