ABA Therapist / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Verbal Beginnings is a leading Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy provider serving children diagnosed with autism. We provide extensive training to anyone interested in learning about ABA therapy and autism and have a passion for working with children!
Attributes and qualifications needed to be successful in this role:
- Patience, compassion and the desire to help children with autism achieve their goals
- Genuine desire to learn about Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
- High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree (completed or in progress) preferred
- 6+ months experience working with children preferred
- Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
- All ABA therapists that are not RBT certified will be required to complete the RBT coursework and pass the RBT exam within 90 days of employment (ask how we support you with this!)
Schedule, Location and Compensation:
- Sessions typically occur 3-5 days per week for 2-3 hours, most often during after school hours between 3pm-8pm
- Sessions typically occur in the child’s natural environment (in the child’’s home, community, and/or school).
- Starting at $20.00 - $29.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications
PA Clearances:
- The state of PA has additional requirements for ABA providers. Employment is contingent upon receipt of the following during the pre-hire onboarding process. Candidates must be able to provide the following to be considered for employment:
- PA State Police Criminal Background Check
- PA Child Abuse History Check
- FBI Fingerprinting
- Child Protective Service Law (CPSL) Training

What does my day look like as a Behavior Technician (BT)/Registered Behavior Technician (RBT):
- ABA therapists work under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement individualized treatment plans
- to address communication, behavior, feeding, ADLs, and social skills. The ABA therapist / Registered Behavior Technician
- Collects and records data to monitor the progress of a treatment plan and works in collaboration with the clinical supervisor to update the treatment plan as necessary
