We are seeking Baristas to join our award-winning team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adheres to the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa’s high standard of customer service while standing behind the service counter or moving throughout the outlet and exterior seating areas
- Handles all hospitality transactions while standing and using continuous mobility throughout Tidal Coffee, exterior seating and throughout the plaza
- Welcomes and greets guests promptly, courteously and professionally, and in accordance with the time of day and provides prompt service
- Adheres to hotel service commitments presenting oneself in a professional manner at all times
- Discovers customer needs. Takes drink and food order from guests in a timely manner
- Prepare drinks to meet required standards
- Prepares and set-ups workstation consistently, and in a timely manner
- Walks through Tidal Coffee at regular intervals and monitors the status of table cleanliness
- Clears discarded items and wipes down tables and counters.
- Maintains cleanliness of workstation and outdoor areas
- Stocks and restocks food and beverage items in timely manner
- Follows proper cash handling and cash register procedures
- Follows inventory stocking and recording guidelines
- Contributes to goals and financial performance
- Takes responsibility to learn all aspects of the barista position, recipes and standards
- Contributes to a safe work environment reporting and acting on any unsafe conditions
- Maintains equipment in like new condition. Follows all procedures for equipment use and maintenance. Reports any equipment issues to management or engineering
- Actively promotes hotel outlets and amenities
- Stands and moves behind the counter and throughout Tidal Coffee to continuously perform the essential functions of the position.
- Follows and adheres to policies, procedures and standards.
- Follows safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe work environment.
- Complete all duties in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Follows all procedures and policies regarding beverage controls in accordance with hotel and state law
- Checks workstation prior to opening for cleanliness
- Performs all the necessary set-up and side work as per guidelines
- Follows all usage procedures regarding P.O.S. (point of sale) system
- Balances all sales daily, after each shift
- Performs designated cleaning and side duties as required
- Pre-bus all tables. Sets up Tidal Coffee prior to opening and regularly monitors throughout shift
- Carry bank for change
- Thanks guests, bids them goodbye, and asks to guests to return
- Maintains knowledge of hotel facilities and surrounding Cannery Row area in order to appropriately assist guests
- Completes all tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Follows instructions of the management team
- Knowledge of food preparation and plate presentation specifications
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred. Prior Hospitality experience is also preferred.

PAY SCALE
The pay scale for this position is $18.00 per hour, plus gratuities, with the position being eligible for a potential increase after six months.
