Crowne Plaza Resort Asheville Banquet Captains oversee all catered events including meetings, meals, receptions, and activities organized by the sales department.
Experience in F&B required. Hard working, driven, goal oriented, natural leaders encourage to apply.
A successful Crowne Banquets Captain will oversee the scheduled banquet service personnel, assign specific tasks and events, ensure that safety and sanitation codes are followed, and train staff to provide service in accordance with our brand standards. Banquet captains work with the food and beverage management team and coordinate with kitchen staff to get details of the menu, food preparations to accommodate preferences, allergies, and alcohol serve safe knowledge. They also examine the cleanliness of the venue, such as the condition of the bathrooms, floors, buffet tables, windows, lighting, and walls prior to a function.
Banquet Captain Responsibilities
- Ensure that all aspects of the room are ready before guests arrive, including the dining tables, bar, food, and beverages
- Ensure that banquet concessions money and bar billing is taken care of.
- Ensure bathrooms, floors, buffet tables, widows, lighting, and walls are set and clean according to established standards prior to a function
- Interact with the host during the event to respond to any special requests or last-minute adjustments
- Monitor staff and guests and respond to questions, complaints, or comments that may arise
- Once an event is over, Banquet Captains are to review the charges incurred and post/deposit in the assigned areas
- Supervise cleanup, inventory, and storage of supplies and equipment
- Can make judgment calls on the fly regarding Serve Safe and event changes.
- Be present on the floor for the entirety of the event
- Assist in administrative duties as assigned by management. These duties could include but are not limited to scheduling, payroll and employee records.
- Coordinate with management regarding staff recognition and counseling
- Maintain the “whatever it takes” mantra and always focus on teamwork and guest satisfaction
- Complete Banquet Captain Notes on daily basis
- Coverage events and fill in with line level duties when needed when budget or circumstances require such
- Impeccable attendance is required.
Qualifications
- Must have previous Food & Beverage or Event planning experience
- Speak with others using clear and professional language, and experience with direct supervision of staff.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Must be able to work days, nights, overnights, weekends and holidays as needed
- Must have computer experience (Excel, Word, Outlook etc...)
- Must be comfortable with last minute changes
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to plan ahead and execute for the future.
