Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the TAMKO Manufacturing Playbook and Playlist.  Support and apply the Playbook/Playlist in all areas.
  • Analyze inputs and outputs to systems and subsystems to identify sources of variation.
  • Establish and manage a program to track existing production line automation solutions, gauge their effectiveness, and prioritize opportunities for improvement.
  • Tune, calibrate, and develop PID (Proportion, Integral, Derivative) and Feed Forward loops in manufacturing processes.
  • Work with TAMKO process engineers to identify hardware limitations preventing optimal automation and hand over a general project scope to the TAMKO’s Plant Systems Project Coordination team.
  • Read and troubleshoot machine electrical drawings.
  • Configure PLC message instructions and network settings.
  • Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), controls narratives, and testing protocols for new and existing systems.
  • Develop basic PLC programs and operator interfaces in accordance with TAMKO’s Programming Standards to include the development and use of all documentation requirements, use of modular programming, use of TAMKO’s Object Oriented Programming Library, state logic diagrams and state logic programming, version control, and established security requirements.
  • Develop, read, and edit process flow diagrams.
  • Maintain awareness of new capabilities and technologies as they relate to control loop automation. Where applicable, lead the implementation and adoption of new technologies.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key plant personnel and discussing potential projects while on site.  Be customer oriented and remain engaged with the customer even after a job is complete.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge of PID (Proportion, Integral, Derivative) loops and Feed Forward Compensation automation
  • 5+ years of industry experience with controls/drives programming.
  • A portfolio of previously developed and implemented automation projects.
  • Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing systems.
  • Analytical thinker with problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Mechanical/electrical systems knowledge.
  • Schematic proficiency.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Experience with gas valve control methods highly preferred
  • Experience with AI/Machine Learning Models to tune and calibrate automation models preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a remote environment while developing, and supporting, a continuous running manufacturing environment. This will require a stable internet connection, and ability to communicate effectively using electronic methods.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly remain in a stationary position for long periods. The employee will also be required to traverse the office and plant production floors.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dusts and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
